Full droop and it just barely tugs the brake line, that will be my next project along with bigger tires.

That is the max your link arms will let your rear drop unless you loosen bolts. Most accurate flex test will be find a loading dock or rti ramp and do one wheel at a time . I know the 4wheel parts on 610 has one outside we use for flex testing . One on westhiemer might .


Caution have another person with you to let you know when your at the limit and when to stop trying to go higher !

The brake line runs down to the center of the axle and the shocks bottom out at the same point. Only did it to check the brake lines though

you don't want your shocks to be the limiting factor, you links will be. It will damage your shock seals. Plus when your axle pivots side to side it will allow for more droop if your shocks had extra travel and could split brake line. you can do it quick and dirty by pulling clip holding hard line in bracket and letting it float.
 
Going to a pick apart tomorrow to look at toy axle and possibly pick up some rear leafs, but first I want some input for an ruf. Not committed to anything yet but hopefully everything works out because if it does I'm literally stealing it for the price their asking ($200 for axle housing and 3rd. Needs new r&p and a basic rebuild, housing has some surface rust but that never hurt anyone. Springs I could pretty much get free if I take the axle.). How high does the ruf lift? I am not well read in all things sas but I have the basics for down for the ruf swap, just never found a "overall height" picture. The attachment is just about exactly what im going for, just in 4runner

do you have any info on your cb? im planning on putting one in my 2nd gen and im trying to get ideas on where to mount it ( thinking in the opening right under the radio) and where you're getting power from?
 
A ruf will net you 2 1/2" of lift 3" if springs are not beaten. Most people use the Chevy rear spring swap to match a ruf lift. What year is the axle your going to look at and how do they know it needs gears ? Another thing to consider is a ruf may not allow you to run your arb

Found a few good pics today of rufs. It was an 85 axle but it had been completely stripped down to the housing, damn thing didn't have hubs, knuckles, and was missing an axle shaft. and it was INFESTED with rust. At first the guy made it sound like the r&p were busted but someone actually came and took those too lol.

Overall I'm kinda glad it didn't work out, it's more work than I can finish especially with it being a DD. She will more than likely be wheeled ifs till I can get another DD for a period of time.

Just put in an order for a set of general grabber red letters, 33x1050, next on the agenda is to install a set of OME HD's in the rear, 4 crawler drop bracket, and weld and repaint my rust bucket of a rola rack. Also looking into using large L brackets to mount the roof rack so that it is lower profile.
 
Tires look good! Big fan of those General Grabbers.

The problem with a low sitting RUF is the up travel. I got about 3" of up travel (under the frame) before the steering starts hitting the frame, using a 6 leaf 48" pack. You could notch the frame out for an extra inch and if you do that you should reinforce the frame.. but I just bumpstopped it there. The RUF will also move the axle foward about 3" which you want for firewall clearance, which will probably require trimming your bumper and front fenders, and broken wrench had a good point, to make sure the new front hanger will fit behind you bumper.

For $200 you should be able to find an almost complete axle.
