Installs in about 5 minutes. I found that the bolts are too long so I had to add an additional washer to the one supplied. Fit and finish is great, I am really happy with it.

The polished handle is crooked on mine. Having an eye for detail, and OCD, it is driving me crazy.

I suspect Jenna gave a really low quote, expecting that 10 units wouldn't sell. When she talked to the boss, he wasn't too happy about the 35% discount so they capped it at ten units.

It definitely could have been handled better.

If that's the way it went down, then "the boss" should have put the blame on Jenna for quoting too low, told her not to do it again, given here a dirty look - whatever - but should still have honored the price for everyone who said they were initially in on the buy. That's no different than a store honoring a mis-advertised low price on an item. It's called "professionalism," "business ethics" or just being the kind of stand-up company that ends up having a loyal following for decades and decades.

If they decide not to honor the original price quoted for everyone who said they were in on it at that price, I won't touch them with a 10-foot pole for the rest of my firearm-owning lifetime. And neither will a lot of my colleagues, because that's just chickenshi$.

This is "Doing The Right Thing - 101" according to me: If you make an offer or promise, you honor it. If you screw up and make one you shouldn't have, you chalk it up to experience and maybe kick yourself in the a$$ a little bit, but you honor your word. It's not like we're talking about a price that was SO low and SO many buyers for it that the company would be in serious financial straits if they honored it. What were there? Like 30 of us or less?

Sorry of I seem a bit too peeved about this, but other than a flame about 3 feet tall (:)), the only other thing that burns my a$$ quite as effectively is person (or organization) who won't stand by their word...

Edit - I don't blame the OP or anyone else on the forum for this.

That's a very good idea. Would love to get the $198.50 price but would settle for the $213.50 price. Ordering alot for my 4runner and paying $15 off right now is still a little to steep for me.

I would be in on the $213.50 price. Can we possibly strum up enough people to buy in at this price? More importantly, will CV go for the deal?? :uzi:

I feel the same way as Randy. No way to run a business. 20-30 VERY HAPPY customers could have helped the company get a positive word out about their product with other T4R owners and bump up their sales, possibly. Even at <$200 they were making money, so why not get some positive advertising out there by keeping it open for a week or so.
I called them on Fri. and politely spoke to Jenna and I felt she didn't want to be bothered with another call on this subject, but offered the $15 discount anyway. I passed.
ThirdToy has a nice suggestion, but I don't think they'll go for it.
WindyCity, nice try! And, I'm genuinely happy for those who got in on it. I wanted to get in but needed to know if the box would fit my Sig and Glock(s), then it was too late.

But who wants to call CV and ask them about another group buy? I'm not good at organizing things but if someone does it and can get the $213 price I am in.

I could not agree more! If you agree to a group buy for a specified price over a specified time period then you follow through with it no matter how many people sign up. Period, end of story! You don't decide after the fact that you're not going to follow through with it and end it early. It's not so much a price issue for me as it is a matter of principle at this point

I'm happy for 'em, too. Hope I didn't give anyone the impression that I wasn't.

Bill, I kept a Sig 229 in my last console vault with room to spare. That was in a 2006 Tundra. I would imagine that the 4Runner version is a bit smaller, but it can't be much, because the one for the Tundra wasn't THAT big, to begin with.

Chances for second group buy?

I missed by a whisker for the first group buy. Any chances for a second one, even if we can meet in the middle of the difference in discount?

I don't mind calling. Not sure where it will get us, but let's see what happens. Stay tuned... :snacker:

You should probably send them a link to this thread.
They might want to know about it.

I know if my company was being discussed like this, I would want to know about it.

Mine just arrived. Thrilled with the quality. Relatively speaking this is not an expensive purchase, and while I admit I was lucky to see the thread and get in early, I would have probably bought this box at regular cost had I seen it first. Great product by Console Vault.

Mine is the same Brock. Looks like you can just loosen the nut on the bottom and re-align, did you try that? I am more bugged by the name plate and need to de-badge ASAP :artist:

Mine arrived this morning. Finish had some scrapes along the front edge, but hard to notice when the unit is installed. Installation is sort of a PITA, I don't think I got the right size bolts. I've tightened them down as far as I can, but the whole console still wobbles.

I'll mess with it again at lunch, but I might have to go buy some shorter bolts and/or give CV a call. For the guys that have installed this, did yours tighten down all the way?

Brock posted he needed to add an extra washer to get the bolts down tight. I have not put mine in yet but will plan on it.

Did not get mine but anybody know what the correct bolt size would be? Is CV sending out the right length replacements?

If only a washer is needed to make it snug, grinding or filing a bit off the end of the bolt should be more than enough. My guess is that you could not buy the exact length needed if it is only off by a washer thickness.

+1. If a simple washer is all I need I am going to continue to count myself lucky for getting this box so inexpensively.

This comes on the heals though of fighting a SmittyBilt receiver hitch D-ring over the weekend :ybrick: Manufactured too tall and with the thick powdercoat I had to beat the F'er in. I knew that was not right so I had to remove the spare tire to beat it back out. Did a little makeshift machining and re-coated it with an auto paint. I am going to add a teflon lube and it will be perfect.

So yah, a washer is no problem :thumb3:

Ha, I did the same thing about a week ago, same hitch. I used a rubber mallet to coax her in.

I'll try the extra washer(s) trick here at lunch and see if that works for me.

Optimal size would be three total washers. The bolts do not really have enough thread to take that much off IMO.
