Group Buy @ Console Vault

I can tell you there is more to the story than that. It is not my place to share additional info, but there were miscommunications on both parties about this GB. I do believe windy and CV had the best intentions.

I just want to clear this up. Their was NO miscommunication between me and CV. I absolutly verified EVERYTHING I post. The ONLY miscommunication was amongst themselves. That being said they do in fact have a great product and would recommend this product to everyone.

Anyone else see the irony here?

All I know is that the terms and conditions that were posted were not what was offered by CV. Your posts were edited after the fact and CV did not honor what was posted originally.

This reminds me of an incident last month where I literally drove 2 1/2 hours home from the ranch to try and get to a pizza place before they closed. My pregnant wife was craving it and I promised her I would make it in time. This particular restaurant has the best pizza and calzones around and they close at 9pm. When I pulled up to the restaurant at 8:25pm they had a closed sign up and I knocked on the door and they came out and said that they would not make my to go order because they closed early because they werent that busy that evening. They just changed the rules because they wanted to and they didnt care what the customers thought about it. It was very unprofessional.

To me, this is the same principle. I would like to hear the explanation from CV as Windy City says that he relayed the information exactly as he got it. If theres a GOOD explanation then maybe I would consider doing business with them in the future but as it stands now I doubt I'll ever do business with them. If they wont stand behind a group buy that they approved then how do I know they will stand behind their products?

Like 15 people got a bad ass deal so thanks wc. The only mad people are those who weren't quick enough on the draw.

I really don't feel that's a fair statement to make. People that have regular 8-5 jobs got screwed on this deal. WindyCity has made it perfectly clear that there was no miscommunication on his end. Therefore this was solely on CV. They made this offer and left the deal open until the end of the month (hence most people would even believe there was no IMMEDIATE rush to say yes - assuming you were even online at t4r.org within those couple "open GB" hours). Although the price is not the deal breaker for many of us, I think I can speak for almost all of us that "weren't quick enough on the draw" that this simply comes down to quality customer service and standing by your word. There's no question it is a quality product that I'm sure is worth the retail price. The problem is offering a deal and pulling it back once you strum up some business. That's bullsh*t. They were fine with offering $213 shipped for only 5 people. That means they were still making a profit at $213 with only a small increase in quantity (5 people!).

I'm not trying to split people up as the "have and the have nots" because that is exactly what has already happened on this poorly offered group buy (to no fault of WindyCity). Just look at every post by someone who was "quick on the draw" and there are "likes" by others that were "quick enough on the draw". All I am trying to do is eliminate the animosity and make right on an original offer from a company with a great product.

I can tell you first hand that if they do not honor the $213, I will stand my ground and not buy their vault. Will one person make a difference in their sales? Absolutely not. But I stand behind my word and guess I'm old school in thinking others should do the very same.

PS - still waiting on that call back from Jenna. As mentioned, will follow up Thursday if I do not hear from them before hand.

Im sure u understand that I don't own the company and cannot control what they do. The original post was edited to take off the price, as requested by CV. That was after the GB was ended. This was my attempt to get at least the 15 people(yes including myself) their vault. As for the pizza that was not my fault either.

Fair enough windy. They seem to think differently but it does not matter. I'm sure you have already thought it many times... "you try and do something nice..." As I posted before I thank you for the deal. And it is a tremendous product. If anyone else can grab it at $213 they should take it and run, unless they are too put off by the whole thing, which I totally get too.

As for the pizza that was not my fault either.

LOL...

Hello guys after sending all the current pm's today I again spoke with Jenna. I informed her about the huge response we got, and the fact that many people were waiting to order. She stated that she would be willing to extend this GB to everyone who is interested. Requirements are that you must be a member of this forum. Vaults will not ship until the tenth order is placed, only until then will they ship. She stated that the deadline was as previously stated but reserves the right to end this at anytime. You HAVE to call in to order. So don't wait guys, place your order ASAP. Remeber this could end at anytime. You must use promo code RUNNER.

I dunno looks like stuff was stated to me.

213 is fair price for a group buy

I think that $213 is fair price for a group buy. If they want to run another GB-I am in. Just do not want to see another "short window of opportunity" to buy

IMHO only gray street was 'screwed'. The rest of us were either lucky or unlucky.

Pretty much sums up life.

I agree with this 100%! Nobody got "screwed" but I feel like the whole thing was unprofessional and, to a degree, misrepresented.

The purpose of a group buy is to get your product out to as many people as possible to get word of mouth advertising going. The members that have good equipment and can give honest, real world testimonials will sell more units than just an advertisement on a page. They would have not made the profit that they normally would have but the advertising they would have received would have made up for it. Hell, I own 4 vehicles, whose to say I wouldn't have bought 3 more at retail. It was just bad business from the get go

If CV wanted to sell just 10 then it should have even set up as a limited time limited quantities sale, not a group buy.

thats your perception of what a group buy should be. my guess is they thought they were doing people here a favor not the other way around. i bet they dont keep a ton of these in stock and didnt anticipate selling so many. maybe they were close to selling out and needed to keep some on hand for full paying customers... they didnt come to the forum, the forum came to them. its entirely possible they dont need any advertising and know their market well. clearly, they didnt think there'd be much demand and then got a little sellers remorse.

Ok...someone showed a pic

But can someone tell me what/how the install is like?
Is it bolts into the plastic center console? Double sided tape? Both?
If someone can take a pic of step by step install. Appreciated.

Thx
Anthony

go out to your 4runner and take everything out of your console. at the bottom is a piece of felt/fabric. underneath that are two bolts. to install the CV you remove these two bolts, place the vault in your console, open the lid and screw in the vault with the two longer ones provided. you will need an additional 2-3 washers than are provided to take up all the slack. takes about 5 min. super super easy.

Ahhh....dumb luck!

I seem to remember a few of us discussing CV's products in a thread in Jan '11 and hoping that they'd eventually make a product for the 5th Gen. We even called CV and recommended they produce one. Now, when work gets busy and I fail to check the site regularly, not only does CV finally make our safe, but then I miss out on a GB. :sobbing: Dumb luck!! (ok, done crying)

The safe looks awesome and I look forward to getting one soon. Count me in on another GB.

I'd also be interested in seeing any pictures of folks who added in the dividers again or otherwise modified / improved upon their safes.

Ditto. I'm old school, as well, and pretty unforgiving when it comes to a commercial entity screwing around with their pricing, in a community that previously had nothing but good to say about them and is offering to buy multiple units.

I probably won't buy from them at all, because no matter how great the product is, I'd still have a bad taste in MY mouth every time I looked at it. The principle (mine) is more important than getting a great product at a discount, IMO. I'm certainly not rich, but I'd rather pay more to a company that keeps their word than get a deal from one who obviously doesn't.

And like Huntsonora suggested, I think they should explain why they created this fiasco and attempt to quell the apparent animosity that it caused. I think they should also offer the product at the ORIGINAL quoted price, for everyone on here who still wants one (within reason - say for the next week or so).

Offering something and then taking it back is unprofessional. Period. That's something you expect from a guy who owns a vegetable stand on the side of the road - not from a mainstream company that's been in business for quite some time, has internet sales, government contracts, etc.

Update

OK guys, it is great to see that there are so many people on board for a second group buy with CV. Since I have not heard back from Jenna (from CV) as she had promised, I decided a few days was enough time to "run our offer by the boss" and called her today. She said that the whole original group buy was her fault and that they would do nothing further than the $15 discount as stated.

I don't think there's much more I need to say, or really that can be said. I did the best I could for us, and I guess it's the $15 off. :redbrick:

At this point I don't really approve of their service whatsoever and will be quick to point out (what I'm sure is a glitch) that you can also save an additional $10 by stacking coupon codes. I'll sleep just fine tonight with them loosing out on an additional ten bucks. Use the word "VAULT" and then when the page refreshes, use "4RUNNER". Like magic, it takes $25 off instead of "the best we can do is $15". :hello:
