Q: 2015/2016 Batch members is the same as Batch 06 members?
I have 2016 T4R.

While we were waiting for DC Engineering to confirm the fitment for 2015/2016 vehicles, I kept them in a separate batch. Once it was confirmed, they were contacted and members joining the group buy after that were batched up regardless of model year.

So yes, 2015/2016 vehicles are included in batch 5 and up.

Interesting... thats just over 50% from the people who signed up. I would have expected the number to be higher.

This is good information for any other members who help organize group buys, in that is gives you an measure to adjust against for higher purchase item group buys.

If you want honest feedback, things weren't buttoned up in regards to knowing the compatibility with 2014+ models, and the money I earmarked for this vanished in a hot second when it was confirmed it didn't fit, and by the time it was confirmed another model did fit we only had like a few days to decide.

Personally I think those of us with a 2014+ setup should have had the deadline extended, and if so I could have shuffled the money around. The confusion surrounding the compatibility basically made me wave off.

I did place my order and send the money via PayPal for my 2016 Trail Premium. I followed up with an email to Anthony letting him know that I placed the order and that I would need the model for the 2016. The website only had 2009 or 2010 listed when placing the order. I have yet to hear back from anyone and have not received anything yet.

Better safe than sorry, I guess. But for the 5 days of confusion I would say patience is a virtue.

For that price you could have bought the wrong one and resold it and made a few bucks......or at least broke even. Or better yet just cancelled the order since they weren't in stock and have to be hand made.

FRI 08-05-2016, 12:44 AM - Indicated that a alternator was being sourced from Toyota for verification.
FRI 08-05-2016, 11:27 AM - Local dealer confirms same alternator; unit being shipped for Monday delivery to DC Engineering.
{weekend; businesses closed}
MON 08-08-2016, 05:28 PM - 2015/2016 confirmed compatible with actual Toyota alternator.
SUN 08-12-2016 Midnight - Groupbuy closes.

So the actual time that 2015/2016's were in question was only for 5 hours! The final confirmation was 4 days (2 of which were a weekend). Once the final confirmation was in, there was still 6 days to order.

In my book, that timeline is not really an excuse to say you bailed because of uncertainty and short order duration. DC Engineering has been great about providing information that both [MENTION=83083]rigtec[/MENTION] and I were not aware off. They also did it in very short order.

Personally I'm looking forward to sitting back for 2 weeks while my new alternator is being built in the USA with tender loving care. I don't really care what everyone's reason was to commit to the group buy and then not follow through; although I would prefer if people would indicate as tentative if they aren't sure. Regardless, I don't feel it warrants a conversation on this thread that faults timing of the group buy organizers, or the extremely expedient clarification by the vendor as the reason.

If you ordered an alternator, [MENTION=144561]DCPower_Anthony[/MENTION] indicated that all orders have been processed and are in the build process now. As indicated on their website, there is a 2~3 week lead time. If you have an order confirmation number and payment has been made to DC Engineering, you just need to sit back and wait for that brown box to show up early September.

We should be thanking you!, I'm not sure about the 5 hours, I might check my math on that one...

But for me it came down to the fact that the original one won't last forever and I will eventually need to replace it. When that time comes, I was 100% sure I wanted an upgraded unit with MORE POWER! and I did't want to be without the T4R for 3 weeks while it's being built, nor did I want to pay and extra 22% for that privilege.

So even though I might not install it day one upon arrival, just knowing I have it ready to go when I need it (and I will need it) was what moved me off the tentative list into the buyer column.

Anyway, Thank You again for organizing this, looking forward to many more GB's on t4r.org.

Credit cards allow to to "shuffle money around*" which is how I assume you would have paid anyways? With the kind of money invested in your 4runner I doubt this would even make the top 10 list :thumb3:

I actually carry little credit card debt and only pay for my vehicle on my debit card. So only with money I have or can make available.
