Group buys and other threads being closed or moved

Ok, so what is the deal guys?
I have seen too many threads being moved or banned on this forum lately. Do we have new moderators or what?!!

I have been on this forum for years now and never seen such a trend.
[MENTION=165]momo.75[/MENTION] Do you have any insight to this? Are there new rules? If so can those be posted?

Threads moved or closed have to do with group buys, member made items being sold on here, which I have seen others do.
[MENTION=5653]admin[/MENTION] can maybe give us some insight.

The ones that I saw moved were for some generic product not specific to 5th gen 4Runners and were moved somewhere else. I think there is a difference is someone making something one off for sale and someone making a bunch of stuff and offering it for sale without registering as a vendor. Case in point Drabbits roof rack or SSS front hybrid winch mount. Those are truly 5th gen specific and stayed here.

I had the same exact group buy as one that was moved and it's actually specific to 5th gens and 4th gens... Seems random to me and not a whole lot of logic to me.

3D printed emblems for examples, I'm sure he/she is not a "vendor". There are couple of other examples. Just isn't logical or fair to me.

I thought I would give a shot and stand up for the guys on here. I know what you're saying.

It would still be nice to have a set of rules if there are rules, if not, it needs to be address, in my opinion.

[MENTION=85032]Joneseyyy's[/MENTION] thread about the interest for fenders got moved and it wasn't even an offer for sales. He was trying to see how many people would be interested in some flares if they were made for the 5th gen...

I'll second this one. He was merely polling for interest, and it got moved. He then asked for it to be moved back since it was not selling any thing, and nothing. It remained in the classifieds.

If it were a group buy, especially pertaining to a particular generation, I believe it would have more success in that generation group. Some people on here, myself included probably don't frequent all areas of the forum to be able to find those.

I have no idea. I have been deleting and banning Spammer IP addresses but that is all i have been dealing with.

Exactly... You would want to post where you would get maximum exposure.
And as a 5th Gen owner, I visit this section WAY more than any other section.

With all joking aside, if it doesn't get moved, that addresses one posts.

Who is going to speak to the many other posts that get removed!!!!!

They probably get moved or deleted because of this rule #5..... which is in the "Welcome to T4R.ORG-new members please read" thread.:shrug:

This includes, but is not limited to, product previews, ads, and other forms of "spam" from a business. If you have an accessory to sell and want to make ONE announcement about it in the Accessories sub-forum that is okay.

You have to understand that this forum in itself is a business .That rule makes it fair to the forum vendors that pay to be vendors on here and ultimately who pays the bills. They let a lot more go on this forum then other forums I'm on and have far fewer moderators.
 
The mods here seem like they're either never present, Or hitting with a heavy blow. No grey area.

That said, I really don't understand why the thread was moved. And that is coming from my experience as a current administrator of jeepforum.com

joneseyyy doesn't work for them, as well it was a discussion about fiberglass fenders, the fact that the 5th generations don't exist, and the one company that is CONSIDERING doing something about it. So I don't really see your point, or how that rule is even relevant at all.
 
From my experience (not at all saying that's what happened here) is when someone posts a group buy or something for a product not from a forum sponsor, but a forum sponsor sells a similar product, sometimes that forum sponsor complains to the admins about it and stuff gets closed/deleted/moved. I can't entirely blame them since they are paying sponsorship while the other company is not, but is benefiting in business from the forum. As a non-sponsor business I could easily create a shill account to set up group buys on the forum, which could be the thing with the low post accounts having threads deleted.

Like I said, could be totally off base but I've seen it happen before on other forums.

Probably right but the fenders are just an interest thing.
 
Is this why we, well I specifically, haven't seen any group buys lately?

If so, where are they? I found the Buy/Sell sub-forum but seems confusing as hell. If these are getting moved why aren't they put into a much less confusing "Group Buy" sub forum instead of cached in with everything else?

Exactly.. That's more logical.
I'm following three different group buys, and they are all in different sections.

If the point is that, the forum is a business, well thats bad business in my opinion. But I guess no one cares enough to address it. Oh well
