GROUP EVENT- Camping at The Cove- 10/13-10/14

Glad you guys had a great time! I will try to make it next year. How are the mtn biking conditions?

The trails we climbed up were more suited to a Mt Bike IMO! Although they weren't singletrack, they would be a blast. Steep and rocky is the word.

There is an extensive ATV trail network that would be fun to explore as well. The terrain is definitely NOT beginner stuff, and not exactly well marked.

Fattiresrollin and friend could probably comment on their Mt Biking experience.

We only did about an hour and a half or so of mountain biking...definitely a lot of climbing! Didn't cover much mileage, but plenty of altitude! We rode up to the shooting range and up to the overlook and explored a little along the way. The downhill is well worth the work to get to the top. We had to be careful of the extremely loose terrain, but we caught some pretty sick air on some of the rolling transitions :biggrin2:. That being said, not someplace I would go specifically to mountain bike, but I will definitely be taking my bike again for future visits. There was certainly a lot more to explore...we just chose to drink more beer instead! :beer:

The high winds Sunday night brought with them some much warmer temperatures- which also brought out the bugs.

Flies, gnats, all kind of crap was flying around my head (maybe it was just the un-showered Antman stench?) at breakfast.

No thanks- I will take chilly air over bugs any day!

LOL!!! I saw the pics on facebook from High-Tech Auto and Truck Center's facebook feed. When i saw the gun range, I immediately said! Hey! that is the Cove!!!!!!! hahahahaa I love that place. I have been so busy the last 6 or 8 months that i haven't logged in to T4r.org So bummed too! I would have loved to go camping and i am well overdue for some fun range shooting at the Cove!

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, Really bummed i missed it!!

question for you guys that went to the gun range. Did you guys notice A LOT of computers, laptops, monitors? BlackBerrys? Hard drives? out there? LOL

Beds were a little soft and the hot tub had too much chlorine. Not like we had it easy (although the eggs Benedict were good).

The trails we were on aren't marked on that map. I'm not sure if they have a separate trail map, but each trail I explored over the weekend had a trail name at the start of it and was marked with a color. I didn't notice the name of our trail on Saturday, but it was orange in color.
