It's junk. Don't buy it. You are more likely to loose HP than gain it.
 
Given that (for comparison) it takes about 80 HP to run an Eaton blower (I know, apples to oranges) on an 03/04 Mustang Cobra (at about 12# boost), how much boost do you think that 1 HP electric motor will produce? The alternator will probably have to produce more power to run that motor than you'll get out of the 'boost' (not to mention the above noted air restriction).

yup thats what i figured, it actually robs power to run the dinky motor in the end you are loseing hp....at first glance it seemed like a good idea though.....

FWIW, that little piece of crap isn't even close to being a 1 hp electric motor. 1/10th hp is even probably too optimistic.

I find it depressing that the lack of Education in this country for say the last 30 years or so, means that people aren't able to immediately see this for the ridiculous scam it is.

Back in the early 80's, any kid in a Highschool electronics class, who maybe also took the auto shop class, could tell you that you would need a SERIOUS electric motor, driven by a lot of current, (far more than any OEM Alternator is capable of) to actually produce positive boost in an automotive IC engine.

interesting, in my high school daze we didnt have any auto/electronics class, it blew, we had a off campus trade school we could attend,and i took welding instead of auto...and actually considering what i do for a liveing i should have taken there wood shop....

but considering the design od this crappy aftermarket supercharger and the low power output, how possible would it to fabricate some sort of supercharger with a lot more power? like im thinking in my head when i was a kid i would take my bicycle and put like a chainsaw engine on it to get some speed....i was thinking maby hook un a mini air compressor to the intake but that wouldnt work cause its not a pure enough air....i dont know whats your thoughts on this?

the problem with compressed air: you run out of it, and it doesn't INCREASE in pressure. The problem with electric super/turbo/de-duper chargers... it maxes out from the start and becomes a restriction.

turbos and superchargers function on compounding either pressure or engine speed. On a turbo, the exhaust determines shaft speed. as the exhaust moves faster, so does the turbo... it just keeps going and going. On a belt driven supercharger, as the engine speed increases, pressure increases. As pressure increases, the engine speed increases at a greater rate and creates more boost.

It's just so much easier to build a properly functioning turbo setup.

edit: but yeah seriously, if they claim 900+ watts, then we're talking around a 70amp load during motor activation. Talk about an unnecessary load on the alternator!

I think he meant that its sad people probably buy those and expect results... No offense if you were going buy it lol... I was curious if someone has I wanna see videos lol

lol i was gonna get it at first glance.....but a few min in i decided to look at some youtube reviews lol yea good thing i always check reviews....that thing is a nightmare....

yea i see makes perfect sense....hmm ited be cheapest in the long run just to get a trd supercharger....but i dont want to spend almost 3 grand on one....ill probably scour the junkyards from time to time get one and rebuild it....pick and pull says 199- if you can find one....is there a supercharger that only fits certain years? or are they pretty much universal? my local yards have only 90-96 4runners in there lots....

find one in a 3.4 taco or 4runner... any variances you should be able to correct.

Or go remote turbo. eBay turbos are $120 I think.
