yes those will work but 10,000k is very blue and annoying it casts a bunch of shadows

higher the lumens...less light output. EG: 4500k's will be brighter than 10000k's.
BUT
Hid drop in kits in halogen headlights cause tons of glare and pissed off oncoming driviers in most cases. I have drop in HID's on my mazdaspeed 3 but it has factory projector headlights. excellent results.
The drop in HID kits in halogen headlights ARE brighter than the sealed beams..But come with glare.
Having said that...
Still thinking of ordering these h4 headlights and a drop in kit for the 4runner (4500k) and aiming them correctly to avoid people flashing their high beams at me

ok well all that aside. I actually like the looks of those. Will they fit? then just use 4500k for brightness?

i recommend 5000k they are white with a hint of blue and work really well for not casting shadows.
4-5000k is the best choice

but do you have to do the bucket conversion still to put them in? (I'm clueless on the type of headlamp my 4runner has. Not sure if it's the complete bucket or just a bulb replacement type.)

Those ARE the buckets.

You should go pull your existing headlamp right now and look at it, and you'll see what's up. Right now you've got what's called a sealed beam, which is the bulb and bucket and lens all in one sealed package. The back of that sealed beam has the same kind of connector as an H4 bulb. So to convert to H4, what you have to do is replace the sealed beam with a bucket and lens that are built to hold an H4 bulb.

The first gen 4Runner has a socket for the sealed beam lamp to fit in, and a ring that goes around the front of the lamp to hold it in. If the second gen has the same setup, then all you need to do is find a bucket/lens combo with he same dimensions as your sealed beam, and swap it out. I've heard tell that it's not that easy with the second gen, so something is up and you should take your headlights out and find out what and do a writeup.

Gotcha, I didn't know if they were sealed or not. Yeah I should probably take them out and take a look at it. Course now it's getting cold, frost and snow last night :/ And i dont have a garage to work in... But ill try bud! maybe a little :beer: will motivate me

I have owned 6k, 5k and 4500k. The 4500k (which I am currently running) are the best by far, they have the most light output and doesn't distract everybody on the road. 6k was just too blue for me. If you want the HID "look" go with 5k because they are the most white light. Just my .02

Yeah this is a dead link but we just picked up an 88 3vz and the lighting was terrible. Glad to see some solutions have been covered! The Toyota 4Runner forum to the rescue once again!

Now if the VW TDI forums could get some smart people in it…. Besides myself.

92 terrible lighting

I know this is dead thread but I have a 92 4Runner that I have had for years, but damn the headlights are garbage (hi beams are tolerable but low beams are essentially useless). They are not sealed and I replaced the bulbs with Sylvania 9004 xtravision bulbs and still only the hi beams are worth anything.
Would love some advice/recommendations on solutions.
I see a lot on here about switching from sealed beams to buckets, but my year doesn’t have sealed beams.
Is this a bulb issue or should I try to find some some different buckets for better lighting.
