Gunna get XM where should i put the screen for it

Very good take on it. So, the dealer would be likely to pay off partial equity left on the vehicle. Cuz, as is, i love this vehicle, and i can see myself getting another one when the lease is up. In that case i def don't see a problem

But, if i wanted to buy it at the end of the lease, it is forseable for them to make a good deal?

I removed the rubber mat that was at the base of the cup holder and used double-sided tape to fasten the radio mount so that I can remove it without too much difficulty.

I would like to find a way of removing the centre console to permanently wire the unit in

That is a nice setup. That cord that is running out of it, that is just a power cord?

Does it need to be wired to the headunit, or is it just done by radio frequency or something.

You are going to have to have at least two cords no matter what... one for the power and one for the antenna. If you get the SkyFi2 or Roady2, you will be able to transmit to a FM frequency since they both come with a modulator built in.
 
Then that is the one that i will have to get. The power cord i will deal with, i can just hard wire it to something. But i didn't want any other wires sticking out anywhere. All about the clean look

It is the power cord. The narrow antenna wire is tucked under the dash. I am using an FM modulator so no wires to the HU, but may consider it, as I believe the stock HU has the ability for aux. in
 
There isn't an aux in for the 6 disk JBL, but you can buy a PIE adapter from myradiostore.com for the same result. That's what I did for mine, and I personally prefer it over the FM modulation. As far as if it makes that much of a difference, it depends on who you ask. Many people are perfectly happy with the FM modulation. Plus, since it is just a lease, it probably isn't worth the money for the adapter and time/hassle of tearing apart the dash. It really just depends on how picky you are about sound quality.
 
I do enjoy quality (i.e. 4runner), but is there that much of a difference if i go with the regular modulator, and getting the additional hardware.

Is there really that much of a difference. In your estimation
 
IMO, the PIE adapter gives the XM radio CD quality sound, just at a lower volume (I usually have the volume turned up a little louder when listening to XM). My advice would be to not get the adapter, and when you get your XM, listen to it and compare it to a CD and decide if the adapter is worth it to you. Since the modulator is built-in you can't lose anything by trying.

With the exception of the pause and rewind feature of the skyfi, are there any other differences that you know of. I really couldn't see any.

If you are comparing the SkyFi2 to the Roady2, there are several significant differences. The 30 minute rewind buffer is one. Another is that the screen displays the song, artist, and channel. On my Roady2, I can only view 2 of those at a time, which is a pain. Probably the biggest difference is that the SkiFy2 has a docking station (though I think you have to buy it separately). If I want to carry my Roady to my office or inside my house, I have to disconnect all three wires and reconnect them when I get there. A lot of this is bad for the Roady and it may eventually break. With the SkiFi, you just pick it up out of one docking station, and drop it in the next.

I bought the Roady2 because A) it was smaller, B) it matched my trim pretty well, C) it came with the car adapters, D) it was cheaper (since I didn't have to buy any docking stations). Plus I don't move it around much so that's not really an issue. However, the more I listen to XM the more I love it, so I may eventually buy a SkyFi2 so I can carry it around between my 4Runner and work.

Sounds good! Just remember that if you get a SkyFi you will have to buy the docking station too...

Even for the car, or if i want to use it in the house? I know these maybe rhetorical questions, but i wan to get all the good info, from peopel with it

So, even if i just want to use it in my car, i still need a docking station

Yep, you need one for the car, and then you'll need another for your home. Both purchased separately :( . That's the main reason I didn't get one.
 
Man, nothing is for free in this damn world. Oh, well. that changes the game a little. But then again the money that i am going to save from being on the fam plan wll go towards it.:bash:
 
I went with XM (Sky Fi 2)and used the Belkin Tune Dock, only $20 at Circuit City. All wires went under the console. There was a hole drilled in the back of the cup holder to run wires through. Not even noticable. If I sell the 4R no one will never know XM was in there. I still can use steering wheel controls , except to change the stations on on the Sky Fi (but it is real close to me) plus it has a remote. Everything else works, rear headphones and all.
