Gurgling Gas Cap

Hey All, My fiancees 2002 4runner is having a problem. It reeks of gasoline and you can hear the gas cap gurgling. I can't find a leak however, it's impossible when it's 109 degrees outside. That might be the issue the with it being so hot outside. But you can smell the fumes while stopped and when it's parked after driving. I'm going to buy a new gas cap for it but if anyone has had the same issues let me know.

I'll take a guess that the evaporative canister under the hood has been filled. It's my guess that during a fill up she may have encountered a pump that did not "click" off when full, or overfilled the tank in some way.

Now that the temps are so high and expansion is taking place, the pressure is building up in the fuel system.

Or could be as simple as the gas cap seal is defective. Just for grins try replacing the cap with another 3rd gen owner, running the vehicle for a bit in hot weather and see if it continues to make noise...
