Yes, it is the JD Powers INITIAL Quality Survey. I am actually surprise that Mercedes did so well! I would imagine them being in the lower portion, but i guess that may be changing. I know that my brother is real happy with his GLK...but i am still scared of them over the long haul.

Your experience? Yeah, that 25 years of toyota ownership does not really mean much when it comes to talking about other brands and critiquing one's brand. Why? Because it already shows your bias.

T4Fun...Most SUVs leaned to one way or the other from what i have seen...nothing new with GX460. GX470 had it. My G500 had it. My brother's LX had it. And my G500 did not have air suspension.

my gx is not leaning at all, but the wheel well space is more between tire and fender on one side compared to other, and its quite random. lexus dealer measured it and then it was even...this gx has a mind of its own it seems..

You never cease to amaze me, back to your old BS posts. Twisting words and trying make people look bad when you are having trouble in a debate. Why can't you just debate with the facts instead of inventing or making personal attacks?

Just to prove the point lets look at what I said. Out of context, you posted one sentence from a six year old post where I said "J.D. Powers can twist a survey to show anything they want to". What you failed to mention is this statement was pertaining to a "APEAL survey" and had nothing to do with a 90 day quality rating. And I clearly stated many times that I do not think a 90 day survey is a good way to show quality, even when Toyota and Lexus has won this award MANY years/times. I also stated that I am bias towards Toyota for a valid reason. It must have killed you to admit Toyota has the best quality.

I started the SAME exact thread about the GX's #1 rating on the CL site and this site. I started the thread to get different perspectives not to be condescending towards other members, as you are. Maybe we should talk about how when you were losing debates you would delete opposing opinions, because you had the power to do so.

If you can't debate a post of mine with facts pertaining to the subject please do me a favor and keep your BS to yourself!

Sorry, but it is pretty clear with your FACT statement just how bias you are! Remember this:

The "FACT" is the GX was just rated the BEST quality mid-sized luxury SUV (among several other Lexus'), and that rating includes crossovers too.

One of you seems to be saying that they have found some problems with their Lexus, the other is arguing that Toyotas (Lexus) are PERFECT, couldn't be an problems. The third of you just seems to really like arguing, and doesn't miss an opportunity to do so... It kinda seems like your all arguing pretty much the same points, but making your arguments seem opposing by nitpicking other little stupid things.
These are just my observations from a third person - "outside of the argument" view. (I've been known to be wrong before)

These forums are here for us to share our enthusiasm towards a common interest (in this forum, the T4R) and learn from each others experiences with this vehicle. We also can share problems and solutions.

Just because I am willing to say Toyota make the best quality vehicles, doesn’t mean I am saying they are perfect. In no way do I believe Toyota/Lexus vehicles are perfect. I have had minor issues with each. There is no perfect vehicle but what I felt needed to be addressed was when it was said (Toyota/Lexus quality has gone way down).

And this "FACT" statement was used to convince others how good the GX is. I have no doubt that the GX is good. However, in YOUR OWN WORDS, you despise/hate/crap-on the JD Powers Initial Quality Survey in the past.

How can you use something (aka JD Powers) in a debate as your argument when you yourself don't believe in it????? Or is there a change of heart? Or is it suddenly legit because they like your SUV???

It's a bit different. The LX/TLC is a step above the GX/4runner in design, not just features. It is on a whole different platform. GX is better than 4runner in terms of features, esp. luxury features (leather, sound deadening, stereo, etc.). However, i would not call the GX better than 4runner in off-road capability for instance. The 4runner Trail is a step above the GX and 4runner Limited in that regard. The LX/TLC, on the other hand, is a better vehicle in DESIGN, not just features. The underbody, suspension, frame, etc. are superior to the GX/4runner.

Thai, I hate to bring up an old thread that went crazy but could you elaborate on why the trail might be a step above the GX in off-road capability? Esentially the GX has all the gadgets the trail has (except rear locking diff) and the torsen centre diff. Do you base this on the rear diff.

The Trail has better clearances (approach & departure angles and ground clearance) to get up and over obstacles. The Trail has the locking rear differential. KDSS is also avail on Trail, and not on GX. KDSS is truly an off-road tool that significantly improves suspension travel. (As an aside, KDSS also has thicker anti-roll bars, which improves on-road handling.)

In addition, i believe that the GX460 is missing a skidplate over the transfer case...i remember that it did not have one skidplate that is commonly seen on 4runners...i think that it was the transfer case.

You, you're correct...I have not review gx specs for a while...a center diff matters little when the Trail has the part time 4wd system. A rear diff lock is a difference maker off road.
