GX460 Running Board Delete Question

Hey everyone, we've got a 2017 GX460 with running boards that we'd like to remove. Does anyone know where to source the lower trim so that we have a clean looking vehicle after removing the steps?

As far as I know every GX460 in the states has been sold with running boards standard but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated, was considering ordering some trim for a Prado from overseas.

I would recommend just cutting that trim portion off the existing running boards once they are removed and then attaching it back on. There are a few good youtube videos out there of guys who have done it this way. It's what we did with our GX.

If you cut the OEM step where the green arrow is for about an 8" section on both sides, the enter center length where the blue arrow is pointed, will simply unclip from the step portion. Pretty easy, I'd recommend taping a line and if you have sliders, plan on doing the install twice or pull your newly cut rocker panel roughly off the car so you don't have to do the sliders twice.

This is really helpful. No sliders at this time, this is a family memebr’s vehicle and she finds the running boards a nuisance more than anything. Still wants it to look clean though. I’ll take a look at this option this weekend. If nobody has posted a stepwise process with photos I’d be happy to do that.

I was able to find used prado rockers on a Japanese site for about $450 shipped for the pair.

Personally I went the cutting route, measured, taped and then used an Xacto fine tooth saw.
