H11 Fog Light Bulbs

I have tried to do some searching without any conclusive evidence...is is safe to put a 55W H11 (PIAA Yellow)bulb in the fogs. I have some PIAA yellows laying new in the box from an older vehicle...so they are virtually free by wife standards. I read somewhere maybe not due to heat, but can't find that post any longer.

Anyone know if this is true? I know the stock H16's are 19W, but to me it doesn't seem like heat would be too much of an issue since the length of time they are on is low.

Any advice?

I was going to answer that I am running H11 Hella yellow bulbs in mine but it is a 2010 model and H11 is what it calls for. I guess since yours is newer someone else should chime in since 55W seems like a lot more than 19W. I am running 65W H9 in my lows vs 55W H11 with no problems.
 
For MY 14+, running H11 bulbs will likely result in melted fog light housings. At least 1 member on this forum has confirmed this issue, and similar issues have been reported on other Toyota forums for vehicles running H16 fogs.
 
LED fog lights and low beams

I just made a video about this and published it yesterday.
I ordered the Razir LED kit for both the lows and fogs. They only come in 6000k though. I got size H11 for both as I had done before with HID's.
I had the hids in my old runner for a year with no issues at all.
I like these leds a lot, theres's no glass to worry about touching or breaking.

Ok so this thread has me interested. How much brighter are these aftermarket led bulbs as compared to OEM? Also, how long can they be expected to last? How about upgraded rear lights to increase visibility?

The short answer is no do not use 55w in a late model 4Runner. As mentioned already it'll melt the housing. Get the 19w version. Or get the Philips LED's that lots of the sponsors sell.
