Has Anyone Installed A LandCruiser Antenna Switch?

What's the circuitry on that switch? Are they two buttons wired like a window switch (i.e. dpdt momentary contact wired in opposite polarity), or is it a radio button spst(i.e. push one to close, the other to open). The first won't work; it needs to be the second. Factory 4Runner antenna only stays up if 12V+ is continuously applied to the signal wire. If no voltage, antenna retracts. The switch needs to be compatible with this.

That's how I do when I go wheelin. Down antenna listen to USB. If I remember blue or amp power wire, then wire switch in series.

Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to just use the shell of the switch and make a basic circuit in that case, just running the wire for the antenna and piggybacking off one of the 12v lighters or something similar.
I'm not sure what the circuitry is... Thanks for the info though. I will do some more searching around and see what I can dig up

The problem I am worried about is the internal construction of the switch. A momentary contact switch is tough to turn in to a normal switch which is what he needs.

Why not just use a toggle or fog light switch in line with the power ant. lead from the HU?

I installed a simple toggle switch under the ashtray to raise/lower the mast antenna...but I also went a step further to utilize the rear glass antenna:

I could do that, but I always prefer to make some mods look like they came from the factory.
If I could make the oem switch work, I think it would be pretty sweet.

Pretty much any simple on-off switch that fits where you want it to go will work, as you only need a simple single pole, single throw switch.

I used the ECT switch on my console. I switched to an Alpine head unit from a sony and it does not have an auto antenna just for the tuner. Now that my truck is a manual I had the ect switch just sitting there so i just ran a couple leads down the tunnel and used the switch. Works great,looks OEM because it is and there is a blank right next to it to put another switch in.

What Alpine HU are you using? The reason I is because alpine HU are the only ones that I have had that actually lower the power antenna when I am not using the tuner source.

Really? I guess I got lucky picking an Alpine then. It goes up and down like it's supposed to stock. No tuner on, no antenna.
When I put a new HU (Pioneer???) in my 4Runner I got the mini antenna cable adapter and a 'Y' splitter and hooked up the rear window antenna as well as the retractable. Previous owner who swapped in the first HU had just hooked up the retractable, because it's a single cable, normal size, easy to plug in.
At the same time, I installed a small switch in the back end of the DIN storage cubby underneath the HU. It just completes/breaks the wire going from the HU to the antenna. With the switch off, the antenna goes down, stays down. With the switch on, it goes up and down as directed by the HU.
What I've found is that the rear window antenna works *great* without needing any help from the retractable. I have the retractable turned off 99% of the time. If you get way out of town, to the point a stations starts getting fuzzy on the window antenna, putting the retractable up barely helps.

Ya that's what my alpine does too but it sounds like the other guy's doesn't do that.

I went same as most the others here.. Got a simple toggle switch and wired to my aftermarket headunits' power antenna lead.
Put the switch down below in the open gap near the cig lighters.
Works great and doesn't appear too "out of the norm" with the rest of the console in my opinion.
