Has anyone made a cabin holster for their pistol?

While the FF may have had that intent, for practical purposes the population is unarmed. Watch any video of the gunships taking out armed-to-the-teeth resistance in Iraq and Afghanistan and it will quickly become obvious that our federal government would be able to decimate any resistance with a simple phone call to the local Governor, who then calls in the National Guard. Simply put, hand guns, semi-automatic rifles, and shot guns are no match for a gunner with an infrared camera and depleted uranium slugs.

Actually, a small band of dedicated, motivated, and lightly armed individuals CAN overthrow (wear down) a superior government force, look what the Mujahedeen did to the Soviets in Afghanistan (where I am now). AC-130's are great for killing troops exposed/in the open, but in order to CONTROL an area, you must have boots on the ground. Both the Germans and Japanese feared invading America because they knew that almost every household had weapons.

And look what we have done to that same Mujahedeen. Were it not for the dual theaters of operation, there wouldn't be anything left of that small band that later became AQ. And really... the Soviets have never been able to keep up with us technologically; trying to do so in the face of Reagan's rapid expansion and upgrading of weapons systems is what finally broke the back of the USSR. You can't tell me that late-1970's era Soviet tech is equal to American tech of the same era. We pwn the world when it comes to weapons and we have since we introduced the F-14, the F-15, the Los Angeles-class sub, and GPS. Things have only gotten worse for small bands of fighters with the advent of this:

I can bring that Apache down with $500 over here. Fact is, you can never fully decimate a population without the use of nuclear or chemical weapons.

Here in the USA, our Supreme Court has decided that it is NOT the police's responsibility to "protect" citizens. It is merely the police's responsibility to "respond" to citizens' requests for assistance. I take it in Canada it IS the responsibility of the police to protect each citizen?

No, it's not. Canada's police forces bear no responsibility to protect the individual, just "society at large" just like in the US. This being said, most Canadian police departments tend care a lot more than DCPD or LAPD. But then, so most Brazilian and Argentine police forces, even if only to rob you of what's left.

Which is why the criminals in urban Canada steal bronze and brass of any sort (you know, statues, memorial plaques, etc), along with catalytic converters, with no fear. Even if you caught them, you could not harm them. Property crime in Vancouver is higher than even in DC as a result, where windows get smashed in for spare change. Having lived in both places, paying the deductibles all the time gets tiring, especially for second rate repairs.

On a funny note, when I lived in Richmond BC we had three lawnmowers. Two that didn't work, which we kept in places where a thief would look. The one that did, we kept somewhere else. We'd have one go missing a few times a year, and yes, that was considered normal.

Back to where the pistol goes - attaching it to the dash under the steering is ill-advised on gen 5's, since that is space the knee airbag would occupy in a frontal collision. Getting your XDm embedded into your knee by that is likely to be unpleasant.

Not sure how much time you have spent with the .mil but more than 10 min would have told you that depending on the circumstances more than 50% would be with the people. Minor SHTF? Yeah, they will follow orders. POTUS issuing the order to disarm all or start moving those with green eyes into camps? Ha, it would be a fun show for sure

I get your point but there are only two options - either the people are free to protect their rights or not. I'll keep me guns and take me chances, thanks. :peace:

We have knee airbags?

I keep a .38 or 9MM in the console or between the passenger seat and console while driving, in my briefcase otherwise.

That video of the CCW holder in Canton OH is nuts!

The cop should know from the plate run that the driver has a CCW, but evidently he didn't run the plate! The cops I know won't even hit the lights until they've run the plates.

Only VA CHP's are registered to tags in the DMV system. Some other states do that, but most don't. They're also public record in VA which you can request from court houses, which is why newspapers like the Roanoke Times periodically list every CHP holder in the state or country along with their address. You know, for "public safety" since any one of them could go nuts at any time in spite of CHP holders having the lowest felony conviction rate of any identifiable group (police statistics for this are not published, strangely enough). And to make it easier for those stalking their ex-spouses or former parole officers. Which is why there are a lot of people in VA and other states that do this with Utah or Florida permits.

The issue, aside from officer attitude in the video (reminds me of Canadian border guards, really), is that the officer won't let the "subject" declare he's carrying, which is required by law in OH. Then he charges the "subject" for failing to declare. Pure class.

dont you love how every thread that is made about guns turns into a huge debate?

this thread is about holsters in the cabin... not your personal opinion on wether or not we should put it there.:violin:thats our damn right, stay the F**K out of it.:flipoff:

Isn't carrying a gun with you/in your car just a recipe for disaster?

Scenario:

You see some guy shooting people in the parking lot, so you get your gun out and start shooting the guy while somebody observed you pulling your piece out and now they're pulling out their gun as well seeing that you're shooting at the first guy. Meanwhile some other guy saw the guy that's shooting at you pull out his gun and is now shooting at that guy.

I know everyone tries to act like they're a hero but come on man this scenario is exactly what would happen.:eek::eek:

its people like you who should not own a firearm...

ones who are not aware of the situation and do not observe their surroundings before taking action.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the nature of civil wars, but they usually end up splitting the military into two factions. Consider that one party in the US clearly wants to switch our government to a Socialist Democracy and the other clearly wants to retain the Federal Republic we started with, it isn't hard to imagine a split along those lines that would result in a major portion of the military joining the rebellion.

Once a state tries to secede by force, Congress would authorize the use of the military under the Posse Comitatus act and the President would order them in to restore order and enforce federal laws. Handguns and shotguns will only make you a target, and with all the registration laws, the Feds will know exactly where to go and who to ask for when they get there. Infrared displays will show them how many people are in the house, and if they are currently armed, and a single guided missile (not even a Tomahawk) will reduce the place to a pile of rubble without putting a single Fed at risk.

Or they could just starve the rebellion, since most farms are corporate owned, and wait for the cities to die off before rumbling in and declaring martial law. Or set off an EMP a mile overhead, instantly putting a city like... LA... into the 18th century.

Carry a gun for personal protection, but don't buy into the illusion that you are protecting yourself from tyrannical government unless you can start buying weapons of mass destruction, laser guided missiles, and fully armed gunships to level the playing field.

Exactly :bravo:, “situational awareness” plays a large roll in use of firearms, and survival.

Having recently moved from about 20miles outside of Oakland, I would say I am familiar with the mindset and the high crime rate that goes along with it.

"Let's see, I'll pick one of the most violent cities in the nation and lump it in with gun-hating hippies as the cause of said violence". Nice try dude, but cherry-picking is not convincing. :hello:

I agree but it was the gun guys that started taking little jabs before the debate ever started. Look back on page one.
