For anyone still monitoring I decided to bring up the TSB when I took it in for 30k service. The TSB does exist, if you have a toyota case filed the system isnt registering that this TSB is the resolution. They didnt even know it existed till I told them. Anyway they replaced the transmission and computer and I have been driving on it for two weeks now. So far I think for the most part it is fixed. I say the most part because every once in a while in stop and go traffic when you accelerate slowly I think I feel a tiny hint of it. It also appears to not be consistent if it does happen. Keeping my fingers crossed that I dont experience this issue again. If I remember correctly the TSB does apply to 2010, 2011 and some 2012 models.

Did you have any issues after they replace the tranny? Brought my truck in for 25,000 mile service and complained about the harsh shifting and the clunk/thump noise coming back after they replace it last year. So they called me today and said they will be replacing my tranny. I really am not very happy about this.

Yeah I still feel it from time to time. My problem is different then yours if you are only having the harsh shifts and clunking. For me it was the sliding into gear from first to second. With the new transmission I can feel it from time to time... its 50/50. Sometimes it works fine and others it doesnt. I also find the odds of it happening are greater when the vehicle tries to shift from first to second between 10-15 miles an hour. Any shift between first and second above 15 miles an hour it works fine.

The new issue I seem to have after the tranny and computer replacement is when I back out of a parking space and shift from R to D sometimes the car wont shift. It will just sit there for 10-15 seconds before it shifts into drive. I cant replicate it reliably so of course when I take it in they cant get it to do it., there are no codes thrown so they say there is nothing they can do. I also asked if I have to keep an eye out for 2013 TSBs since I have a 2013 tranny and didnt get a clear answer on that either....

I'm not sure if anyone is still interested in this anymore, but I thought I would give an update on my current situation. My truck just rolled 142k and my old friend the driveline shudder is back, and worse than before..

I think this new shudder is what the FJ guys have been dealing with on their trucks. The new shudder happens still at light acceleration, but it doesn't matter on what gear you are in and now happens once or twice through the acceleration.

I've checked the driveshafts and u-joints, but have just started to diagnose this issue. I'm planning on changing out all of the fluids to see if it clears up. Let's hope so!

I'm taking my 2010 in tomorrow for this. I recently had the transmission mount and driveshaft replaced to get rid of the -bump- when stopping. That worked on clearing that up....now to fix this shudder. Going to take in the TSB and try to get the transmission replaced under my extended warranty.

This is mostly the reason I joined this forum, to see if others were experiencing the same issue. My 2010 Limited has been doing it since I bought it in JAN of 2010. Just like previous posts have said....slow speeds, shifting from 1st to 2nd and easy on the gas. Definitely noticeable, as someone else posted, when you're in a parking lot or in slow moving traffic. VERY Annoying....otherwise I love my T4R.

I think I am having the exact same problem in mine. Do you "feel" this in the steering wheel? I feel it during initial pull of the truck or, like one user posted. I also feel it in the brake pedal, when depressing it. Only slow speeds. 30+ no problem.
