Has anyone peeled the chrome film off your grille?

Hi guys. Havent been on here in awhile. Been really busy lately.

Im trying to refinish my grille as my clear coat suffered alot of damage this past year. I would like to get the chrome film off so I can have the plastic to work with. Ive gotten a bit of it off, and it takes forever.

Have any of you taken this film off, and do you have any advice/techniques?

I did. I used heat, and a flat razor blade. It was a huge PITA.

x2 on the huge PITA. I peeled it off with my fingers and a putty knife when I painted mine.

I've peeled little bits off of my old grille that were already peeling near the top two mounts, but never did all of it. You might be able to use oven cleaner too. That's what a lot of projector retrofit guys use to get the chrome off of the headlight buckets. I used it to remove chrome off of one of my extra headlights, but it took a few applications to completely eat through all if the chrome.

Exactly what I did, took a long time. I thought about buying a non-chrome one off a base model but was already half done with mine so I just stuck it out and finished it.
