Has anyone replaced the bearing in their tensioner pulley?

ok so im trying to help out my buddy who doesn't do forums etc. his TENSIONER pulley is making noise on his 16 4R and he went to toyota and as we all know they dont sell the pulley itself for the tensioner only the whole assembly. i just wanted to know if anyone has changed the bearing itself or knows the part number of the bearing to use to swap out in the tensioner pulley. ive searched all over and only came up with 4th gen guys saying 5203KSSE but not sure if its the same. but figured id ask on here before removing the pulley and trying to get a number off the old bearing. or if anyone has an old 5th gen tensioner laying around they could look at the bearing number for me. or even has found a whole replacement pulley that is identical to the oem one that works as i know this has a double roller bearing in it which is thicker then the regular idler pulleys. thanks lmk

I would like to know too. As far as replacing, if it’s anything like the idlers you’re going to need to destroy the old bearing to get it out. I humbly suggest biting the bullet and getting the new one then you can try your luck with a little less pressure. If you act soon, in the next day, there’s a good sale which would bring the cost down to about $150.

Likely you won't find a Toyota part number. If you are able to press the old bearing out then you can go online and search for the bearing replacement. NKN, SKF, Timken, etc. The bearing number will be on the races. I did this for a truck wheel bearing hub years ago.

I replaced my tensioner pulley with OEM Toyota one but you have to buy whole Tensioner Assembly $170. Pulley with bearing is not sold separately. Replacing of whole assembly involves removing AC compressor and the reason I opted to swap just a pulley. If you go this route, keep in mind that pulley bolt has reverse tread (loosen it clockwise). You might compare tensioner pulley to one of idler ones. If direct match- you might save over $100 by purchasing idler pulley and using it in tensioner. G.L.

I used an eBay pulley last year: (1) NEW Drive Belt Tensioner Pulley For Toyota Rav4 Lexus GS 0187-GSU45 39093 | eBay working fine so far. Upon closer examination, the OEM lower idler pulley should work fine at the tension location as well. Just remember the bolt is LH threaded.
