Im surprised the auto transmission can last that long...you wouldve thought the clutch packs to have worn out by then. Must be all highway driving.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure its mainly highway driving, he drives like 1,600 miles a week and only services his vehicle at Toyota. There's a thread on here all about it, called highest mileage or something like that.

almost 615k miles and that was 2 years ago..

he probably be in the low 700k's if not more by now..

i would like to see the newer cars push that many miles on an stock motor..

That's correct, I spoke to Bob maybe 2 months ago. He was at 725,000 miles still original engine, trans, transfer case & diffs. It was actually just in for it's first set of LBJ's and LTRE's. He swears by keeping it dealer maintained and I'd say he makes one hell of a case for that.

Except for the fact that gas didn't cost that much since 1999. Heck, I get 87 for under 3.00 all the time around here for the past few months.

I did consider that but it made the calculation extremely involved.

Gas generally gets more expensive the further you go north. I love how Americans complain about gas prices, yet we CDN's always consider your gas cheap.
