Hauling around a few hundred pounds in the cargo area?

I need to haul around 400 to 600 pounds in the cargo area of a 2018 SR5 stock 4Runner. Should this be ok? What upgrade to suspension would help or make it better to do this? I have a 41-inch "tool cabinet" used as a cargo box for equipment. The box is 170lbs. empty, not sure of total content weight yet.

Will this extra weight always be in your 4R?
If yes, you probably want to add stiffer springs but you shouldn't need much else.
If no, I guess it would depend on how often it will be in there. FWIW, I hauled 1600 lbs of paver stones once and while the truck sagged it was fine. This was with the stock suspension.

+1 for the bags and get the heavy duty springs for the back so it can handle more weight.

That's a lot of weight for a daily driving work truck, and is probably approaching or above what a lot of folks do to mod their rigs (full roof racks, under armor, J can mounts etc) and almost all of them have an upgraded suspension, so be sure to check your brakes on a regular basis.

The 4R has a payload of 1550lb.

Carrying a load has nothing in common with heavy builds where the steel stuff is in addition to the payload.

Check the payload rating of the cargo area, it is separate from the overall rating but I do not recall the number.

I drove 5,000 miles with 800 pounds in the back, plus another adult passenger. This was on stock suspension. Sagged a bit but not bad at all. Just remember your stopping distance greatly increases and your cornering is terrible.
