Have any of yall radiation tested your 4runners?

In the wake of a near melt-down the fukushima nuclear plant leaked radioactive material all over japan... Just wondering how much of a nut Im gonna look like when I roll in to toyota to pick up my new 4runner, and go over it with a portable radiation tester? lol... Have any of you guys checked into this? I would imagine the US customs checks all this when they come into the port... Im sure our vehicles are cleaned thoroughly after leaving japan right?

Out of everything I would be checking out on my new 4runner, I can assure you, radiation is not one of them. However, do make sure your friend/wife takes a youtube video of you checking it out - could prove very entertaining.

If you park it in your driveway and it glows in the dark, or starts producing 10 leaf clovers around it, then be concerned. Until then, enjoy.

I wouldn't be worried about radiation in this case, but if somebody knew where to get good inexpensive Geiger counter I might get one just in case. We have nuclear plants here too...

The odds are pretty good that the radiation observed on a new T4R would have been 'donated' by the good old border inspection agencies as the cars get XRayed when they enter the US.

That radiation would probably completely overwhelm any radiation from Fukushima.

What it boils down to is that, unless you have $1000,000's of dollars, and access to very confidential information, you will never be able to tell where the radiation you observe comes from, or even whether it is natural or 'manufactured'.

The FDA has already blocked many food Items from japan. Naturally occurring radon is not my concern here... Concrete used in homes and construction even emits this naturally occurring gas in low levels... for the most part these levels are low enough to not worry about. There are however many cases of concrete structures emanating enough radon gas to be harmful to your health...

The wind patterns are blowing the fallout of fukushima westward towards Hawaii and the California coast... just a minimal amount of radioactive dust from this fallout in the immediate vicinity of the near melted down reactors is enough to cause serious health effects over the long term. Im crazy or moronic for wanting to test this out on a vehicle in near direct exposure to this event!? I think the crazy ones are those completely dismissing any ill effects here.

I think the ones that need to do some research are you guys believing everything they hear on cnn or fox news...

I test everything... but to what you are saying... im not sure the exact equipment used to do the xraying, but the use of either electromagnetic gamma rays or gamma photons, doesnt "turn" items radioactive... the blast or charge is radioactive but this is not a lingering effect... As far as I can remember from chemistry in college anyways...

Im just bored... trolling serves to keep me sane... I would not sue them, hell they seem like the only ones making decent auto's now a days... I cant lie and say I wouldnt attempt to get a few grand off asking price though!

I lived 190 miles from Fukushima during said event and have since move back to the USA. My TE is post earthquake and assembled in Japan (invoice higher since for it too). They test them before overseas shipping and they are fine.

So what if microwaves and washing machines start when I enter rooms now? They treat cancer with radiation also...win win!

well almost all electrical appliances give off electromagnetic radiation... cooking with a microwave isnt as good as conventional means... A microwave has been known to strip many micro nutrients from the food items, as well lower the bio-availability of many proteins within said food items.... just the constant flow of electrons in your home wiring and gadgets gives off constant electromagnetic radiation... Its no wonder generations since the 50's have been plagued with escalating percentages of cancer and disease....
