I haven't tried it with my 4Runner, but I did it numerous times with my first vehicle, which was 92 Chevy Lumina Euro whatever it was called. It "turned off" at 180 km/h, but it ran at only 3,500 RPMS at that speed and could go much faster. Fuel consumption was almost identical to when going 120 km/h. It was a great car. I had parked for 2 years and one of the pistons got seized, so I towed it to a scrap yard. It was a sad day.
I was pretty crazy when I was younger. I once drove from Hamilton, Ontario to Quebec City, Quebec, which is roughly 900 km (560 mi) in just over 5 hours - 180 km/h on cruise control most of the way on the pretty much empty highway. Young and dumb, perhaps, but great times. I got a speeding ticket on the way back to Hamilton going 40 km/h over the posted speed limit of 100. The ticket was $350, if I remember correctly (it was in 1999 or 2000). I get a speeding ticket once in every 1-2 years ever since. I guess going slow is just not my thing :fear: I never speed by more than 10 km/h in a city though.
Edit: Correction (though not really relevant), it was 39 over the posted speed limit and the ticket was $286. I remember it now as if it happened yesterday.
