I didn't go with OEM when I got the tank. All places were sold out at the time and were very expensive. I got a JC Whitney branded one. I'm hoping to have it installed/replaced this week. I know some people put Techron Chevron in their tanks or the Marvel Mystery. With a new tank being put in, would you add any additives or leave it as is?

Pin hole leaks towards the top. If I fill my tank up, it'll wreak of gas (the truck and garage) until I'm at least at half a tank of fuel.

Thanks MT, but I have no intentions on working on a fuel tank by myself. Sparks, exposed fumes and I'm not terribly handy.

I wouldn't put any additives in. I would probably replace the fuel pump though with a denso as it will be all apart and easy to do.
If your live in a rust environment, I would also have the tank coated with a good paint then covered in a rust inhibiting coating as well.

Good advise brillo. I didn't think of replacing the fuel pump and I do live in a rust state (NJ). My 4runner is covered in road salt/brine as we speak.

The gasket surfaces rust and cause the gaskets to leak also. It may not be a rust hole unless you seen it.
I caught this one just in time before it started causing an EVAP code. I had to drop the tank to weld in a repair sleeve for the lower control arm mount.

I'm just going with word of mouth. When I took the truck to my fabricator, he put in on the lift and told me they noticed pin holes towards the top half. That's why he also said I'm smelling fresh fumes when the tank is half full or above.
