Head gasket or?

ITS A 95 3.0 Liter and Im dripping coolant on the passenger side front of the engine. Ive crawled all over this thing and there is just too much stuff in the way to find the source. There is no coolant in the oil, oil in the coolant, runs great, plugs are clean and no overheating. Is there a coolant line or freeze plug low on the front of the head or high on the block in that area?

With no history of overheating I cant imagine its a cracked block or head, and since gaskets normally fail at their narrowest Im baffled. Its loosing about a pint a day and only when its cool.

its my daily driver so I cant just tear the accesories off it without a good estimate for down time.

Check the coolant bypass behind the top timing belt pulley. Could be the water pump.

Well of course it was the worst, head gasket leak hiding behind the ac compressor. I found a good shop thats doing a head rebuild, gaskets, crank and cam seals, water pump, timing belt and tensioner, pcv and thermostat for $1300 so im feeling hurt but not dying from the pain. The parts are speced to by aisin or oem.

If it's a good shop, then that's a great price.

...and if it's a bad shop, it may have just been the water pump in the 1st place. hwell:

I would make a "surprise" visit to the shop just to see that they are actually putting new head gaskets, etc... If they have a problem letting you back there to "get something outta" your vehicle then that's a huge red flag.

I worried about that but as luck would have it I had a 4 hour wait for my ride from the shop and they were going after it during the time I was there to get the heads into the machine shop for a quick turn aŕound so I saw them lift the first head off, and he is sending me picture updates as they go so I feel good their doing the work. Whether its good or not will have to wait and see, but the shops reputation is good. If not I will soon have alot of parts for sale.
