Head Unit Freezing Up (2015)

Hey guys, just bought a 2015 Limited two days ago. On my way home the head unit (navigation, radio...) froze up and rebooted 5 times. The next morning it did it 3 times and has continued to freeze up. I called the dealership and they want me to bring it in. Just curious, anyone else have this problem?

Guess that answers the questions about existing bugs being worked out in the '15's.

My 14 never has but my g/f's 14 Corolla has had a few issues, they have almost identical systems. The voice recognition never "initializes" and the car has to sit and then be restarted to reboot the system.

For what its worth, I figured out how to quickly reboot the head unit when it is frozen. Just hold down the power button (for the radio) for about 2-3 seconds and it forces a reboot.

Short answer; yes.

I hate the head unit in my 14. Hate. I had the same problem you had and took it in and they updated the nav software, so far no issues...but hell, the software is junk anyway.

My Dad's Avalanche has a cheapo $162 (shipped) Hong Kong head unit in it with Igo software and it's years more advanced than this garbage.

2015 Limited

Oops, this might be deal breaker.

I was at the dealership yesterday inquiring about 2015 Limited. I've been pondering of trading my 2011 SR5 Upgrade Package to 2015 Limited. :canada:

I haven't had any problems with my '14, while the display is relatively small the features are more than adequate.

Real-time wx, traffic, progressive navigation, split Blue Tooth and voice tuned recognition . . . its has more than most would ever need.

If mine starts locking up I may be whistling a new tune ,instead of the radio.

you need a software update.

no problems yet...

I have a '14 Limited, and have had no issues whatsoever, and never a freeze-up. My 4R was relatively early production (I think, since I got the first one at the dealership in October of '13) and I've not been notified of or otherwise noticed anything unusual. Everything related to the head unit and navigation works flawlessly - as far as I can tell.

I had this problem on my 13 LE. Got a new head unit under warranty. No problems since the replacement unit was installed.

Do you have the JBL system or the Entune ?

has anyone else noticed that XM audio quality is horrible?

When streaming pandora its much better... Guessing because the bitrates are higher...

I don't have the JBL system but wondering if it sounds any better than what comes in the Trail Premium? /offtopicsortof ;)

I noticed xm was less quality than streaming from my phone. I don't mind though as I don't plan to continue my xm service as I've grown to prefer apple radio streaming. Usually it's other way around with Bluetooth audio sounding worse so I'm happy.

Knock on wood but no issues so far on mine other than lack of HD service in some places for weather and traffic. However does that also mean they are outside of xm and will continue to work for life of radio via hd radio service?
