Head Unit Inputs

So I'm looking at replacing my head unit with a Joying android unit. I pulled out my current head unit to look at all of the inputs, and make sure I got the right adapters for my new head unit.
I have a 2005 4runner limited with the JBL sound system and the navigation unit. I had some empty inputs in the back, does anyone know what they are? Also, why are there two antennas? One is a smaller input than the other.

Some of the unused connectors are for the factory rear seat audio system. Some may have never been used on the 4Runner.

The dual antennas are in the side rear window. Toyota calls it a diversity antenna. They're different sizes and the factory radio will switch between them depending on which one has a stronger signal. Its not usually necessary to hook up both as long as the antenna amp has power. Connector R12, Pin 13. Black wire on the 20 pin connector just to the left of the fan.

You seem to know your stuff :) The factory toyota backup cameras are 6 volt, right? Have any experience with using the factory backup camera on an aftermarket head unit?

Thanks, installed a factory nav unit from a Sienna last year. Had to do a lot of research to get the wiring right. Too bad the sound quality wasn't to my liking.

Yes they are. The iDataLink Maestro RR has a provision to power the factory backup camera. Its not cheap, but its a clean solution to interface with steering wheel controls, factory amp, and backup camera.

I replaced mine a few years ago.
After reading some posts here on issues with matching wires...
I specifically bought one that was marketed as "plug and play" for my T4R.
And it was.
Except for the extra antenna plug, everything was a perfect match.

The iDataLink Maestro RR is only compatible with the 05' base model unfortunately. If it was available it would actually be cheaper than all of the other crap I have to install for compatibility. I found a voltage step down reducer for the backup camera. I have to change it to a vga output anyway.

It shows that it supports the same features as the 06. They may not have the trim drop down set up correctly. I'd check with them on their forum about it before you dismiss it.

I want to add an aux connector to my 04 JBL NAV unit (17010) with backup camera and rear entertainment unit (non functional)

I bought a 3.5mm interface unit off ebay and have used in on our toyota martix successfully. I just want to make sure that I have a open connector in the back that looks like the white connector in your pic, before I start to take the dash apart.

I'll post some detailed pictures of the connectors when I get to my other computer tonight.

So I found a better interface that works with the JBL system and gives you steering wheel controls PAC RP4.2-TY11 Radiopro4 Ty11.

I contacted idatalink support and they don't have anything that supports my vehicle. Dang JBL with NAV... why you gotta be so difficult!!

If anybody has more information on what all of the connectors are, that would be great. I still don't want to leave something detached if I need it. I labeled the ones that I have confirmed, and put a number by the ones that I still don't know.

Now that i have installed a new head unit, and messed around with some harnesses I need to correct my previous post. Some of my labels weren't correct.
I still don't know for sure what two of the harnesses are, they are labeled with a "?". And there are also three spots for harnesses that my car did not use. If anyone has input for these that would be great!

See my signature for an old post I put about getting the backup camera to work with my limited with Nav. It has some pictures in it too.

I installed a new head unit this weekend and although my original head unit is different than yours (non jbl, non nav), I couldn't figure out what the ? harness was for either from the image you posted. Everything on my new head unit is working though, so I suspect the wires have something specific to the old head unit that is already built into the new one.

Wow
Are you.me?
I am looking at getting this head unit for my limited.

Question, did u figure out the JBL situation? My 04limited has JBL but no Navi, wondering which direction to take this in

Edit: yes you did, yo mentioned which harness will work.

Thank you :))

I really need to do a write up of my install, I just haven't had the time to do the detail I want. Do you have any questions for your setup, or did you figure it all out?
