Head Unit Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Android/Apple Carplay HeadUnit? I'm intrigued by the Phoenix Tesla Style unit, but I saw negative reviews. Looking for a good unit that will display the backup camera.

Assuming you dont have the 21 plus with OEM android/apple carplay Id recommend retrofitting one of those. Tad more expensive but works great.

The aftermarket android tablet (oem looks or better) are good but can be hit miss on quality. If you are willing to tinker with it then find a used one fairly cheap and try it out.

Other options are the standard aftermarket touch screens, good quality , higher output just not a oem look

Head Unit

I have a 2017 and updated my head unit to a Dasaita unit (can get on Amazon). Had good luck for about a year and a half, then tried software updates, etc and it kept glitching (not connecting) - Carplay. They WERE very good at communicating, but the product failed. I then tried a "premium" unit from Hamilton Motors (based in the US). Very nice, good comms, and a three year warranty. Figured if something started acting up, they were here in the US.

I did something similar, but just went with the box from Hamilton that adds CarPlay to the existing head unit.
Super easy install. Yes, the screen is still small, but it works great and was less expensive.

At first I was unhappy because the screen didn’t seem to recognize what I was touching 1/4 of the time. But I stumbled upon a blurb on their website about calibrating the screen. Since I did that, it’s worked great.
