Head Unit Replacement Recs

Here's one Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
Well, how about LA county? Here is the thing, finding someone that can do the job properly and is trustworthy is paramount. Thus far, no one has made a recommendation inspite of the wide area that is SoCal.
What I want/need is a decent upgrade to stock radio that has bluetooth (voice dialing and streaming) and a usb port - I don't own an iphone or ipod - I actually have a Nokia phone! So, I am not sure about extra features working out with it. DVD is an extra - not a need.
That's it. Trying to keep it simple.

Do it yourself man, get everything off ebay if you want it cheap, pioneer deh-8400bh have usb, bluetooth and hd radio. What is your budget anyway?

Give Crutchfield a call
They are a little more expensive but they will walk you through the installation every step. In the long run you will get a better unit than you started out looking for and the satisfaction that you did it your self.
If you take it to an installer you may end up buying something you dont need and paying more for the install than the unit.
My 2003 was a piece of cake to install including the steering wheel controls.

Theres plenty of instructions on the web on how to install the HU yourself. I just drop that much on the JCV NT800hdt after returnting the Clarion NX702 and like the JVC much better.

I have an alpine cde-133bt and love it.
It is a single din so u will have a shelf under the unit perfect for a pack of smokes and Ur iPhone.
I'd has single cd, USB front, USB rear, changer rear, parrot blu tooth supports blu tooth hands free calling, Siri, streaming audio for music and some apps that support AirPlay, includes wired mike, displays new txt message waiting, cell signal strength, battery percentage, and phone book sync, will pair 5 devices (I paired my iPhone 4s, iPad 3 and Mac book pro easily), unlike many iPod/iPhone compatible models that charge device it still allows u control through head unit, remote, or device screen itself, has 3.5mm jack in front, pre amp outs, sub out, optional remote or steering wheel 4runner control. Paid $150.
I also got the Alpine Power Pack, a tv remote control sized amp that upgrades any head unit to 45x4 watts rms not peak. Many head units advertise their peak power not their actual usable rms power. Cde-133bt peak is 50 watts but rms is 18 watts. The 18 is way better than factory cd/cassette/iPod 3.5 unit. But the power pack made it thump! I have changed out all 4 doors w alpine 5x9 3 ways and added a kicker solobaric l7 in a sealed truck box w mono kicker 500w rms amp. And a capacitor (can't recall how many farads) and a optima red top.
Plus 2 mirror mounted tweeters and crossovers.
With power pack I did have them install separate amp kit from battery cus it drew too much power wired through head unit alone and went into safe shut down every now and again.

Also I did it all through crutchfield as well, it is a bit more $ but included harnesses, adapter kits, dash/molding removal tools, great full color instructions w pictures and diagrams made for the common non stereo install person and literally hours on the phone w a tech during the install. U won't spend more for the slightly higher prices than u will if u have a shop do it. Overall a saved a lot considering what shops charge and also I understand how it is installed and left myself extra wire lengths if I need to pull things out to fix, upgrade or remove system where as a lot of audio shops try and save money by shorting u on wire and stuff.
