Heading to Moab/CO in May!

Just wanted to post this up, hopefully I can have the chance to wheel with some fellow 5th gens!

We're leaving from Saint Louis, Missouri. If you would like to meet us along the way and join up, that would be awesome or just meet us there.

Dates: May 11th-19th

Friday- Leave STL in the evening
Saturday- Arrive in Colorado in the AM, Hang out and camp for the night
Sunday- Head to Moab, Utah in the morning, Camp @ Moab
Monday- Moab
Tuesday- Moab
Wednesday- Moab
Thursday- Head to Colorado in the AM, hang out and camp for the night
Friday- either hang in Colorado for another day, camp and leave Saturday morning or head back to STL in the evening

Possible Colorado Destinations: Mosquito Pass, Engineer Pass, Alpine Loop- Mineral Creek
Possible Moab Destinations: Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park
- 4x4 Trails (Moab): Gemini Bridges, Chicken Corners, Fin & Things

From one young owner to the other, Enjoy it out there and stay safe. I wish I could meet you out there but college has be basically trapped for the whole year + an internship during summer. Take lots of pics cause I need a new wallpaper and your ride is sick! :D

These CO trails generally don't open until much later in the year due to snow pack. This year has been pretty dry but I would not plan your trip around them.

Moab will be in its prime and I know you'll enjoy your time there. You'll be missing Cruise Moab by only a week. Cruise Moab - Toyota 4x4 event in Moab, UT You can find some good info on the trails and what to expect on the site.
 
Yep we all have CB's. Yea we don't plan on doing heavy stuff in Colorado, just stopping by since we'll be driving through and back anyways.

AngryDog, wish you could make it. Thank you, yea college has been eating me up, planned on going last year but summer school killed me. When I come back from moab, another 2 months of summer school :(
 
Moab is an incredible place to play! The needles district of Canyonlands is remote, but has some great trails, ruins, and petroglyphs. Island in the Sky has the White Rim Trail - very scenic but long. Arches has great scenery. Any way you go, you can't go wrong.

The trails you mentioned go from easy, could do it in my subaru (Gemini Bridges), to a bit more aggressive + cliff exposure (Chicken Corners) to you will probably leave part of your rear bumper on the slickrock (Fins n Things).

There are tons of trails in the area. An excellent guide book is "Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails 2nd edition" by Charles A. Wells. lists tons of trails, and does provide an honest rating of the difficulty of each.

Arches should be a definite. There are some awesome sights there.

It's gonna be pretty hot there. Make sure you have enough water.

THE best guide. You can order it online or get it at lots of stores in Moab. It rates :easy, moderate and difficult (traildamage is a 10 point scale). I have the wells book and have added the traildamage ratings to it.
