Heading to Moab

Hey folks...

So, I have a stock 2007 T4R Sport that wants to see some dirt. I traveled 4000 miles through northeastern Canada already (Trans-Lab), so it's seen some dirt already - I'm on my 2nd windshield.

Anyway, I'm heading to Moab in 2 weeks, wondering what trails I can do without any mods. I was there 4 years ago with my 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport, so it'll be nice to see how this one handles.

My biggest concern is the Top of the World trail (rated 3 or 4, depending on the source). Has anyone done this trail? Is it possible with a stock truck? This is my every day vehicle, so I'd prefer to not break it... but I do want to push it a little.

White Rim
Chicken Corners (did it last time)
Onion Creek

You should chronicle your Trans-Lab voyage. I am thinking about a trip there as well.

I just got back from moab about a week ago and took my new (to me) 01' out on sevenmile rim and it did great! If you haven't gone offroad before it's a little nerveracking, the 4runner is probably more willing than I was. Sevenmile is rated like a 4/5 or something, and I even got the guide to moab off roading book that said it was difficult and shouldn't be attempted in a stock suv. I can remember one, maybe two spots where I had to stack some rocks to keep from bashing the bumper or bottoming out. Scraped the hitch a couple of times on some steep ledges/slopes, but no body or undercarraige damage.


A whole lot of fun.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. That link is awesome - there are some great adventure pics. I hope to have the same great time without any breakdowns! Not taking my truck on Top of the World, since it's stock, but we will be doing White Rim. Should be interesting... Leaving tomorrow morning!

are u leaving 2 day or tomorrow? i will be leaving for utah tomorrow< saturday and going to moab for some rock climbing and repelling... but saddly wont be driving the 4runner! ill be in a fricking 12 passenger van with a bunch of boy scouts! damn i got screwed on this trip!

I would like to visit MOAB for the 1st time this September. Can you tell me which trails would be appropriate for my 4x4 08, stock except for bigger tires.

Also, please provied info about the book. I would like to get it.

Have had some experience, just did Aggie Trail at Katemcey Tx. They call it little moab of Tx. I did it, but that was a lot more than I was expecting. They teamed me up with a group of all jeeps, most modified. The T4R did great.

Hey folks.. returned from Moab (admittedly, a few weeks ago), but I had an awesome time. The 4runner performed great on White Rim trail. I only hit the step rails in two tougher spots along the trail, but didn't bottom at all. I have some photos posted here:

Can you tell us more about which trails are best for the T4R?

I would really like to know which are the best scenic & most challanging that a stock 4WD with bigger tires (275R70x17) & 1" leveling can do???

Sorry for the delayed response, I actually don't get on here that often.

So, I took my T4R on White Rim only this time around, because I was short on time. I have taken my stock Jeep Cherokee on a number of trails that the T4R stock would have no trouble with... Here's a short list ->

White Rim
Chicken Corners
Potash Road/Shafer Trail
Onion Creek
Mineral Point Road
Gemini Bridges

There are probably others, you'll have to ask the locals. Or search for "Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails 2nd edition" on Amazon.com.
