headlight oxidation

Will be doing one of these fixes soon to our newly acquired 06 4runner....will post when we get to actually doing it......lot's of good ideas.

I bought a roll of 3M Ventureshield for my Scion about 5 yrs ago. Covered the hood and entire front plus some. Plan on using the leftover on the 4Runner lights. The stuff lasts if applied well and I haven't had a headlight oxidation problem on the Scion since.

I just did this to a bunch of cars and it turned out great. Don't have enough time on them to speak for longevity but so far so good.

Sounds like the same steps as the 3M option, he even uses 3M sand paper. The Rust-o-leum is really the only difference. I'd be curious to see how long that lasts as he claims it's "permanent". Keep us posted.

on my new vehicles I use 3m clear bra , make a paper template of headlight then cut 3m to fit clean with rubbing alcohol and put on , no air can get to it therefore it wont oxidise . older cars I polish them to like new then clean with rubbing alcohol and do the same thing with the 3m . and never worry about them again.
