headlight questions

before the flamming begins, i did multiple searches and wasn't able to find answers.

looking to upgrade stock lamps but don't want to go the full HID route. interested in Silverstar Ultras/zXe as an easy improvement.

would like to know 1) just low beams or both? 2) what size? seems from Amazon, the H11 fit as well as the 9005. not sure what to purchase. 3) any reviews or other suggestions?

thanks in advance

What are the advantages of these over OEM? Roughly how much brighter are they and how does their beam pattern compare to stock (or is that more a function of the reflector? ).

What I did was change one bulb out and replaced it with one that i mentioned above, and the other bulb was OEM. Based on my scientific "look into the light and see which one blinds you more" method, I would have to say that the aftermarket ones were much brighter & whiter. Also, when I parked my truck with the lights pointing at a wall, the cut-off of the aftermarket is much cleaner. I can tell a slight difference in driving in the rain at night, where the road seems easier to see.
If I turn my fogs & headlights on at the same time, I can definitely see the difference in color between the two.
Dont get me wrong, these are by no means HID's, but for about $26 for the set, you cant go wrong!
Again, these are just my opinions, and YMMV.

Just noticed there is a $5.00 MIR (mail in rebate) on those bulbs. Im about to get a couple more.

I'm interested in hearing how long they last for you guys. I had Silverstar bulbs in my CRV and I was replacing them roughly every 6 months. I liked the light output, but the lifespan was (well.. lack thereof) was annoying.

Hopefully that got improved in the last 3 years.

Okki

I had the same issue. I am now running 8k HIDs, wanted 6300k but I already had this kit laying around. I will swap them eventually. I have not had an issue with the cut off on the stock housing. It is not great, but it is not as terrible on these particular headlights as some make it seem. To hell with the flame wars, its your truck, do what you want. If those that want to flame want to purchase something different for you, by all means, otherwise let them :toilet:
