Just did a quick peek at the parts manual...

They do offer 2 different switches....well part numbers at least....

84119-35050 for the LE & SR5 - $86.77

84119-42020 for the TE - $87.11

Seriously? $0.34? Is that savings worth the annoyance to drivers not having the ability to see the radio during the day with their lights on? That is our cost, I'm sure their difference was even less! The part is at least somewhat 'cheap', anyone know how hard it is to get that panel off where the switch is?

I believe Jesse and I both have NAV. When we click ours our NAV comes out of night mode and back into day mode.

what about the little info center (mpg, etc)? does that also return to maximum brightness?

i dont think that is the issue since I have a TE and my radio (non-nav) does not return to maximum brightness.

I have the click, I don't have NAV, the click only brightens the instrument panel (speedo,etc).

Can you check the info center (mpg,etc) brightness for me? Does the click also brighten that to maximum brightness?

It makes no sense that they brighten the instrument panel to maximum brightness, but not the non-nav radio or info center. So now, in inclimate weather (like this morning), I have to decide between turning my headlights on (so people can see me better) or seeing my radio display.

I have a 2010 TE with Nav. I have the up "click", when engaged it brightens Nav and instrument panel. The MPG/Info center closest to the windshield does not change. The only way I can get the center info to change, is to hold the "mode" button next to it. It has 3 settings, but the brightest setting....isn't all that bright. I haven't had the experiences that some have had with not being able to read due to glare and direct sunlight though.

Yes... I see your point. I didn't realize that adjusting the brightness dial up to the "click" puts the NAV in day mode.

You could also leave the dimmer dial adjusted down below the click, turn on the headlights, push the "display" button on the right hand side of the screen and then select "Day Mode" from the NAV screen. This way the gauge brightness could still be adjusted and the NAV would be switched into day mode.

I was just trying to help answer the question regarding different dimmer switch settings between SR5 gauges and TE/LE gauges (optitron).

I have the NAV display so I could only test those settings.

The inability to adjust the non-NAV stereo backlight brightness and day/night mode does seem pretty irritating. I was not aware that there was even a different dimmer switch until I read that page in the manual.

I'm trying to remember if the stereo backlight in my 2001 SR5 behaved the same way...

Does anybody know if the "switch with the click" is interchangeable with the standard switch? I would like to have that in my '11 SR5. Or- has anyone figured a way to keep the entire dash @ full brightness with the lights on? I would really like to do this mod, but don't know how...
