Headliner Crud?

The exterior of my truck isn't really too clean these days, but I do keep the interior really clean- well, except for the headliner.

I just noticed all these stains next to all the window openings. I'm guessing camping dirt, soot from the campfires, etc.

I know you guys demand some quality photography so I drug out the dslriPhone for some Hi Def images.:snacker:











Anyone have any suggestions on how to clean this without ;

a- Smearing the dirt everywhere.

b- Piling up the mouse fur material.

c- Causing the material to separate from the backing at a later date.

d- Leaving watermarks

I'd try vacuuming with an attachment that has reduced suction. Something that lets some of the suction enter through a side hole or slot. Or hold the vacuum tool partially off of the tube. I have a shop vac' I'd use.
That's the easiest way if it works. You can try this without getting it wet.

Same shit happened to me. Broke out the carpet cleaner with non scented detergent. Came out like a charm

I have one on the passengers side, by the handle, which I think is a leak. All kinds of stained goodness. I'm guessing, but probably what [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]'s underwear looks like at about the forth day...like someone hit a deer

I was thinking about this the other day. I had just pumped gas and went to lower the visor to block the sun.

I looked into future replacements and found some textured and perforated vinyl that would be easier to clean and not stain as easy, while matching the stock interior.

I got a few terrible couches given to me, but my mom works at a law firm that happened to have a $5000 designer couch that they were selling for $300. I should try this as well. Since Antman pointed out those cruddy spots I've been thinking about this. I have dogs = I have Nature's Miracle. I'm guessing the reason it works so well is because it is enzymatic and does not contain ammonia like Resolve or any number of other cleaners. The worst spots I have are next to the coat hooks in the back seat.

and the sliver of headliner at the top of the liftgate opening, i'm guessing. i've just resigned myself to accepting that, while otherwise being light grey, that portion of the headliner is "dark grey"

All you need is some elbow grease.

Do you know the previous owner? I bet they were a smoker.

I am the only owner of my 4Runner. Never been a smoker and don't allow it in my truck. I think the crud buildup is from riding with the windows down, so a collection of pollen and dust/dirt.
