Heating problem!

Hey everyone, the heat in my '90 is terrible! Im no mechanic and i need some help since its been getting down to about 20degrees where im at. Any Advice?
Also ill be needing a good trust worthy mechanic when i get to GA, Thanks

Is your truck getting up to temp?

There are a few things you can check. Take off the two hoses for your heater core (located on the firewall of the engine bay side), and run a garden hose to one end and see if water will cycle through it and clean and junk out of it. The other thing you can check is the heat selector on your ac panel. The cable may have come off of the back of it making it to where you cannot adjust the heat setting.

Have you checked your thermostat? Coolant level? Are you getting any heat?

Im not getting any heat at all. My temp is normal, coolant a bit low and ill have to do some research to check where the thermostat is and those hoses for the heater core. Would i have to take apart the dash to check the cables on the ac panel? Or is there a simple way?

Your heater control cable is in plain view on the firewall. When standing in front of the truck, the heater hose to the right (dr. side) is the inlet, and you will see the control arm just below it--move the lever inside and see if it moved at the firewall. If it stays put, you don't have control at the dash, and are therefore not getting hot water into your heater core.
