Hello from new '97 SR5 owner in Sacramento

[NOTE: I posted this over in the "new members" thread and a buddy suggested I post it here in the 3rd Gen thread too.]

First off, shout out to the site creators and the regulars here- reading up on T4Rs on this site really helped me out when purchasing my ride recently.

I bought a '97 T4R SR5 about a month ago that I've been very pleased with. I'm looking forward to having many future adventures in my new ride! My first adventure (cross-country from Sacramento to Jersey then back to Sac) involved a bit of a misadventure- I hydroplaned in snow, "tested out a guardrail," and damaged the front right bumper and fender. It wasn't bad, but they'll still need replacing. I'm currently going through the insurance claims process. I am considering taking the check over the body shop option, but haven't decided yet. If there are any T4R junkies in the Sac area willing to help out a noob with installing a new ARB bumper and repairing/replacing a fender, gimme a holler. I can try to figure out how to post pics if anyone would like to see.

Bumper/fender misadventure aside, part of what I'm excited about with getting an older T4R is fixing it up a bit and whatnot. I'd like to eventually work on some of the things mentioned in the awesome T4R 3rd Gen guide on this site (eliminate milkshake potential, tundra brake set, better rear coils, et cetera) as much for the fun and the learning as for the benefits they could provide. So, if anyone out in the Sac area is happy to help teach a new T4R owner who doesn't know much about vehicles in general but wants to learn, hit me up! You are welcome to make my ride your workshop.

Looking forward to becoming more of a regular on this site; been a lurker for too long.

downpour11: Chico, you say? I've been meaning to find the time this summer to get up there and check out the Sierra Nevada brewery. Ever been?

EDIT: And thanks to Kyle for posting the pic, it was indeed lame of me not to do so... But since he did, he walked right into this: the name of my ride is "Bis Sis" partly because of Kyle having the green '99 while I have the green '97. It bugs the hell out of him to refer to his ride as the little sister of our two almost-same-colored T4Rs.

It started as a joke but I kept the Big Sis name because she "watched over me" and got me cross-country and back in one piece through a whole lot of bad weather, through that crash, and hauled a full 4x8 cargo trailer like it was lint on her shoulder.

Needless to say, it didn't take me very long to grown fond of my new T4R!

Yup I've been to the brewery a couple times. Good food. I'm more of a liquor guy though so I don't do the brewery thing often. Pm me if you're ever up this way.
