Help 22re

Whats up guys going to do a master rebuild on my 22re 86 4runner
i got the head off last night and going to pull the block this weekend. Any advice or anything to give it a lil more power
kinda on a budget so got to keep this in mind thanks for your
help guys

The interwebs are full of threads started by guys trying to wring a little more out of their 22RE, a quick google will fill your brain. Short story, the 22RE responds pretty well to a mild cam and header combo. An engnbldr Street head with oversized valves helps too, and if you're going to go that far you might as well add a Supra AFM and port the throttle body. That combo will probably get you near 130-140 hp. After that the money to benefit curve gets really out of whack - stroking, boosting, etc are mostly a waste of money - if you're looking to make real power, forget the 22RE and start looking into motor swaps.

ya was thinking of getting a header and cams done with this build
and i also was reading on a swap but that will have to wait lol!
just new to all this and since im doing the work on pulling to engine
seeing if anyone had any tips on doing this

Take lots of pictures, from every angle. Tag every vacuum line and harness connection so you know where everything goes. Drink a beer. Put the bolts and nuts you remove back where they go if you can, and if you can't put them in ziploc bags with a tag telling you where they go. Pop the crank pulley nut free before you take the motor off the transmission. If your AC still works, take the pump off the motor without cracking the hoses and leave it in the engine bay. Drink another beer. If you don't have a parts cleaner, save yourself several hours and take the throttle body and intake plenum down to a shop and see if you can give them a couple bucks to clean them for you. Take the TPS off first and don't let anything contaminate it, those things aren't cheap. Drink more beer. Check all the studs in the head on the intake and exhaust side, and if any are wobbly or loose now is a great time to helicoil them, instead of after everything is back in the truck. Take your time and be methodical, and drink lots of beers.

LOL YA I HAVE HAD A FEW OF THEM ALREADY ALL THE vacuum LINE HAVE ME SCRATCHING MY HEAD TO MANY LOL AND THE PICS ITS CRAZY HOW MUCH I HAVE. I DID THE AC JUST LIKE THAT AND I FOUND THAT BOLT IT FELL OFF I GUESS IT WAS BETWEEN THE RAD. AND FAN SO I PUT IT BACK ON THE PULLEY.
