HELP! 98' getting BAD gas mileage

Hey there, hope someone can help me out. I spent $190 replacing both O2 sensors & have replaced airfilter, exhaust etc....I am still only getting about 200 miles out of a fillup, any ideas or things that have worked for you guys? It's my wifes truck & she drives pretty slow!!! We love the truck, it has 156,000 miles on it & no real issues, hate to get rid of it BUT with gas prices we are thinking about a Sienna. Thanks for your help

That doesn't really tell us much. How much gas are you putting in when you drive 200 miles?

There is a known issue about the gas guage being way off. Not sure if it was a '99 specific issue or not.

You have a 18.5 gallon tank, and should be filling up about 15-16 gallons. My hunch is that you're only putting in about 11 or 12. Am I correct?

Also, try cleaning your MAF (mass airflow) sensor. That can really make a big difference.
 
Nope doing the whole tank, 15-16 gallons.

I was just talking to someone & they said to do the sensor as well, spark plugs are good.
 
Just be careful when doing the sensor. It is delicate, and a new one is big $$$.

Also, are you running larger tires? A lift? Driving in AWD or 4WD a lot lately?

Have you run any injector cleaner lately? BG 44 is a good one, or you can also run a few tanks of Chevron with Techron through (suppoedly the Techron is the same stuff as the BG 44, just more diluted).

If you do the plugs, it might not hurt to do the wires at the same time.

Instead of the "etc." you need to list out everything you've done. Can't help you without some more info.

Also, with the weather you guys are getting over there, I'd be hesitant to get a Sienna (even with the AWD). Maybe a Highlander is the solution for you guys.
 
how many miles is everyone averaging with a ful tank before the light comes on?
 
I generally get 275-300 a tank, unless I am driving all freeway (like on a long trip) then I usually get about 310-320 a tank.
 
I get about 200-220 and thats with 33" tires too. Make sure your brakes arnt dragging or adjusted to tight in the rear. Tires properly inflated, air filter, plugs, clean MAF, ect ect
 
i used to get around 330 miles a tank, but lately i have been getting just at 300. i figured it was my roof rack causing the lack or something to do with the winter weather.

I usually average 250-265 per tank.

My gas light is way off, too. It turns on when I still have 6 gallons left in the tank. I usually put in around 12.5 gallons a fill-up.
 
Also don't compare 2wd vs 4wd and 5 speed vs auto will have a bit of a difference too.

I have the larger D load rated Nittos and I with mostly around town driving with a little highway I usually see 230-250 but if I'm in the throttle too much that number can drop to the low 200s real quick.

My mom gets over 270 in the city in her stock '99 Limited and a bit over 300 with all hwy driving.
 
I get about 230 in my 98 2wd. I actually calculate mpg when I fill up. The last three fills with city driving were. 18.9, 18.2 and 19.2 mpg. There was a little highway traveling on the last tank. In my opinion though, with these numbers and a v6 engine, this aint that bad.
