Help a Brother on the Trail!

FWIW after my 2nd gen went to 4runner heaven i picked up a 2000 sr5 4wd auto with extra factory options but otherwise bare bones stock with 173k in absolute flawless condition for $6500. only thing i really miss is an e-locker. it was more then i wanted to spend at the time but in hindsight i think i got a good deal on the low end of the spectrum. I have seen other good deals like that but they are fewer and farther between.

sorry the one in MD is too far.... definitely a nice 4runner, i would learn to drive stick just cause its in such excellent condition. hope you find a gooden!
 
What worked well for me was posting a wanted ad in the local paper. The
first call I got was from a nice little old lady that had a 2000 SR5 4WD auto
with SC and all the options in mint condition with 114k miles on it. She only wanted 3k for it. I couldn't believe it!!! The body and interior were perfect.
When I checked the oil, it was clean and yellow still. New 265 75R16 Goodyear Tracker 2 tires on Center-line wheels. Oh yeah, The gas tank was full too. It can happen to you too.... Hope it does.

I would have, but her son-in-law was there to help her do the papers. He made me feel like crap when he looked at me and said: This rig is 8k KBB.
I grinned and said that I appreciated the good deal.

By far!! That is crazy, especially the fact that they responded to his "wanted" ad! That is divine intervention my friends.
 
It was her husband's 4R and he had passed away. The funny thing is that
the 4R had just sat there in the back of an RV park with a 4-sale sign on it
for about 6 months and nobody had inquired about it. She didn't drive any
more and was living in their big RV bus. She saw my ad and called me. I
shot out to look at it and wasn't expecting much for 3k...but there it was in
perfect condition just waiting for me. What a lucky sap I am. I was freaking out that her son in law would want her to ask for more, but I had already gave here the money right before he showed up to make sure she filled out the papers correctly. Just super lucky I guess. The 4R has ran great since I bought it last July. I still can't believe it.

Yeah, I bough mine (97 V6 4x4 5 speed, with 147k miles) off auction for $1850, there's deals out there, it had a great body and mint interior, but needed a rear bumper and rear diff, and some new shocks, just keep your eyes open and something will pop up.
