Hi all,

so all night research and test drive today....plus reading many posts here..LOL

If I pull the trigger on a '14 sr5..I will need to immediatly upgrade wheel and tire / Bilstein 1500 shocks fron and rear (NO LIFT tho) and more aggresive springs...

My question to you guys and trust me I tried looking...what springs could I use???

I cant find any...H&R dont have a 4runner application I can find nor does Eibach...?

also is the Bilstein 1500 a good choice...no offroading just tighter ride with less nose dive? or is the Bilstein sport ones better?

any help would be great guys thanks

there are no higher spring rate coils at OEM specs that I know of (off the shelf). 5100s or Billy HDs will help but you aren't gonna eliminate nose dive or improve handling much. Until upgraded swaybars surface the best you can do is try to widen the vehicles trac... nose dive... learn to love it, it aint going no where with out a real suspension upgrade.:juggle:

First...a few things:
1. You don't NEED to do this, you WANT to do these things.
2. Please try to use spell check or at least get the words and numbers right.

With that said:

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/99002-coil-spring-specialties.html

And a thread everyone should read before changing springs:

This should get you started.

Ok thanks for the links.

Lol. I say need because I know myself and I Need for sure..

I didn't relise I got #s wrong and that it's a an English class... Im typing on a Pos cell.

Anyhow.. Looks like this will be alot of headache to get it to my standards of fun driving.

The two shortest off the shelf springs that I can think of are OME 883 (front) and SAW 1.5" coils (rear). It's ~10-15% stiffer, but also a good ~2" taller.

Horrible picture, but I have this exact setup on my 4runner:

If you want stiffer and no lift you're going to need to go custom, like Canazes9 did for his rear springs here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/147258-no-low-lift-icon-suspension.html

No offense, but it sounds like you have really no clue about the basic suspension components for this vehicle, and that's okay because we all start somewhere. But what's not okay is expecting us to spoon feed you what to get. You're just going to end up with 100s of different opinions and lots of angry people who don't even want to bother helping, lol.

Why not do some more research on this forum or other sources and make an educated decision on what specific parts to throw into your new truck and then ask for help on deciding between certain component? I guarantee you will get a lot more useful feedback from the members here :)

BTW, I know that this is not an English class, but you have to understand that it makes you look like a real lazy person if you can't be bothered to spend the few extra seconds it takes to correct your spelling and make things more comprehensible. No typing on a phone is no excuse, because even the shittiest ones nowadays have spell check on it, lol.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you stay on here long enough to realize that this place is a wealth of knowledge for your 4runner!

Haha its all good!
I appreciate the help..

Im kinda bouncing back and forth between 4r and an Fj..
Fj I found on a test drive had alot less nose dive and can easily have the TRD bilsteins installed.. I'd really like to say with toyota.... Coming from Jeep now.. Toyota feels more solid than the wrangler I've owned in the past.

Just trying to gather as much info as possible..
Yes I've been combing these forums all day ;)

No. But while you're at it drive the LE too. I drove one the other day, and it was very noticeably better planted than my SR5 w/ 5100s. I tried to induce some nose dive - nada.

You do mean the TE w/ KDSS right Phil? Since you've driven them both, what are your impressions of that vs the XREAS on the LE? Handling, road feel, etc...

I've only ever driven one w/ KDSS and I was immediately sold at the first high speed curve on the highway during the test drive. In hindsight, I should've been a pretentious bastard and had the guy take me out in an LE and an SR5 just for shits and giggles, lol.

.

Absolutely, I see no point in a TE w/o KDSS and the better sway bars.

To be fair, I drove a '13 TE last Fall, and the '14 LE just last week, so the distinction is blurred. But right now I think the LE drives the better, but it's a bit more upscale than I am.

If the '14 TE/P still had the '10-'13 trim, I'd already have one in super white (with TRD wheels don'tcha know).
