HELP - How to get gas FROM 4runner?

OK, I'm snowed in, and even with chains on I can't get my 2006 4runner out to the plowed road.

The electricity is out, and I have a limited amount of gasoline for the generator.

Fortunately, I filled up the tank on the 4runner before the storm hit, assuming I'd be able to siphon gas to run the generator if needed. But, now I find I can't get a siphon hose in. The limited reading I've done indicates it may be tough to do this, and there's a flap valve which might prevent me from getting the hose back out anyway.

Any suggestions for either getting a siphon in (and out!) from the gas fill line? Alternately, is there any easy to access fitting between the tank and the carb which I could access and drain fuel from?

I have hoses of all size, tools, whatever. Thanks for any help - a little fuel will make our Christmas much brighter.

I don't know if this parts diagram of the fuel tank will help you or not...
It looks like you could disconnect the filler hose easily enough, IF there aren't other parts in the way.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread but how were you on the internet if the electricity was out? Off of the generator?

Gosh, I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition .

The power was intermittent. We lost it several times for a few hours, and a couple times for a day at a time. A friend of ours who lives nearby was without power for about 8 days.

I don't remember whether, at the time I posted, I was running the computer off the grid or off the generator. Regardless, I wanted to be prepared for the worst.

I never did get any gas from the 4Runner, though. I ended up hiking out to the road, where a friend had dropped off some gas, and hiked backed in with the gas strapped to a pack frame (Oof!). I was able to make this last.

I still need to crawl under the 4runner and check if there's an easy way to do this!

I've only had the 4runner for a few months so far and I didn't drive it to work today but I thought the gas filler hose was visible from inside the rear cargo area. I remember removing the left side panel in the cargo area where I think some tools for the jack were and seeing a thick clear tube/hose running vertically. If that indeed is the gas filler hose and the flap valve is located at the gas cap, you might be able to tap into that hose for siphoning.

Alreadybeenused: The obstruction was much lower, probably at the level of the tank. Accessing the hose from the cargo compartment wouldn't help, I think.

Kmvreter: My wife may have snapped some pics. Probably not impressive to look at - I think it accumulated to about 22" at my place. Not impressive, for some areas of the country I've lived in, but pretty close to a record for the Portland, Oregon area where we don't get much of the white stuff.
