Help: Ideas for my wrecked 4runner

I'm getting close to buying another 4runner which is modded to basically everything I could ever want. I didn't have full coverage when I wrecked my 4runner, so I have to pay out of pocket for this new one. I want to see how close to breaking even I can get if I were to part out my old 4runner. The only things I would be keeping from my old build are my wheels/tires, and probably my 5-speed transmission (to do a 5-speed swap eventually). That would basically leave the following mods, and everything inside the truck up for sale:

Sonoran Steel 1.2
Tundra TRD progressive front coils with Bilstein 5100's
LC 7.5 wraps with OME shocks
Toytec Diff Drop
Tundra 231mm rotor/brake caliper upgrade
Wheels/tires from new 4runner

Does this sound like a good idea to buy this other 4runner, and part out the old?

What do you do with the frame/body/motor? I've heard junkyards will buy them, but how much can I expect to get from that?

Any other suggestions of what to do with the old 4runner?

I'm open to all ideas! Not to mention I still have a clean title in hand.

Well if you decide to part out I'd be interested in a couple of interior parts and possibly the lift, all I have to do is jump on I74
 
i would look for a lowmile stocker honestly with a decent service history and swap over what you know is good on your truck, I doubt your gonna brake even but I would gut it and scrap the body shell, bad doors and your just gonna have to sit on the parts till they sell, ebay is your friend

This incident has left me with some weird post traumatic stress. Driving down I-74 in inclement weather conditions really sketches me out now.

I ran the scenario of picking up a cheap stocker and swapping my lift and stuff over. The problem with that is, that's a lot of work and the truck I'm looking at now is pretty fairly priced, plus it already has the same lift as mine does.

I was in a bad accident in mine 3 weeks ago(Me+4runner+telephone pole), and a small fender bender 2days ago due to ice, It has definitely affected how I drive and my confidence ,and is definitively a reality check unfortunately. :redbrick:
 
I'd be interested in the tundra upgrade stuff and your doors if the price were right. I've always wanted to make some half doors. Perhaps headlights too.
 
It will be some work, and may take a little time, but I'd buy the one you showed me and part out yours. I know I'd take a few parts, and John will too. Plus, we're close enough to help ya.
 
I would take parts but it would be hard for me to help much since I'm in Columbus. i'd help you take the parts I wanted off though or you could just let me wrench away while I'm there and you take care of other things.

I'm in the same boat, I could come help wrench, and also I'm interested in parts: front bumper, headlights, grill.
 
I'd be more than happy to help you wrench on it, I live on the south side of Indy.

If you part it out I'd really like dibs on either the rear hatch or the bezel and hatch handle depending on the damage
 
Have you ever got any opinions on repair-ability? If you know the machine and it's built to your satisfaction, maybe you could consider some new body panels and roof rather than start over.
I'll bet a good body shop could git'er it back close al-be-it- not as good as it was before.
You could get a few more years from her yet regardless.
I'd be tempted to at least get a pro body shop opinion.
 
Id just make a super buggy!

Well i have 3 cars, and if anything happens to my runner, im cuttin pieces out and building a cage and make it a buggy
 
Well Like Adam said, we are both interested in parts and are more than willing to help you get rid of some of them as well as help take parts off for selling.
 
If the only damage is the body, I would consider finding a donor truck, possibly one with a bad motor, swapping the body then calling it a day. You said you liked the build so why not keep all the stuff you have.

Even if there is more wrong with your truck then just the body, if you buy a straight donor truck you should be able to build a complete truck between the two keeping all your old upgrades. It just makes no sense to me to sell your upgrades at a discount only to turn around and eventually buy new upgrades down the road because eventually you will be coming out of pocket.

You could also look at this as an opportunity.
I know for some a 5spd is desirable and they are hard to find.
Also creature comforts of a Limited are nice but as far as I know not available in 5spd. So if you want the creature comforts of the limited and the 5spd, you could have both if you pick the right donor truck. You may even luck out and get the e-locker.

Wish you lived closer, I need a spare tire, jack, and tools. Never came with my truck. Unfortunately shipping for those parts would probably equal salvage prices.
