I just recently bought an '01 SR5 4WD 4Runner. It did not have a rear window deflector attached from factory. I love the look of them attached, so I went to a junkyard and bought a deflector that will fit and even have all the factory hardware. I know that on the factory installed deflectors, the screws go into a threaded like piece of metal inside the hatch, just for the deflector to be screwed into.
That brings me to my problem. Obviously, mine does not have the factory predrilled holes, or the threaded metal to screw into. The sheet metal is too thin to just drill a hole, and screw into it. Has ANYONE successful installed one of these deflectors? I have a template on where to put the screws; my problem is how to fasten it to the rear hatch. I am pretty handy at DIY stuff so I can do it, if I know how to do it. I'm not tool handicapped lol.
Thank you for any help or advice!!
