Help me build a good stereo

I'm so pissed about getting raped by the stealership for an aftermarket stereo that was a huge downgrade. I got it just for GPS but the unit's GPS is so awful it takes me in circles and the screen randomly blacks out. Anyway I wanna switch back the stock head unit. It allows Pandora right? So I'm not sure what wires have to be changed. I had the aftermarket system installed. I also know I'm gonna want a 5 channel amp. I've already upgraded all the speakers. But I also want a subwoofer in the stock location. I've seen someone do it on here. A little plastic trimming required but no big deal. So looking for help on what parts I need to buy. Thanks.

Car engine sizes and the effects on power and mileage

I know nothing about cars, but noticed a car with a larger engine than my (2.0 litres vs. 1.6 litres) lasted for many more miles, was more powerful. I would have thought a smaller engine would be more efficient for mileage?usps trackingshowbox

This is not even remotely related to the OPs posting asking about a good stereo.
bradze what's your vehicle exactly, what unit did the dealership get you? Also, when did you get it from the dealership? If there's an issue with a factory unit and you're still under warranty it might be an option to pursue them for maybe a faulty unit or bad install.

I see you're in WA, where?

Does the screen blackout or the radio shut off for a few moments? I ask because there is an interface that is used with certain aftermarket radios and its known to be bad and shuts off the radio for a few moments, happens in my Tahoe.

good to know but im pretty sure im gonna replace with the T9 unit from the 2020 4runner just so i have car play. i have alpine and kenwood door speakers and im gonna put in a rockford fosgate amp and a JL 10" sub. gonna get a local audio shop to build me a box like i found on this forum as i have 3rd row.

keep hearing about issues of iphone connecting with that toyota t9 headunit. i don't know why its so common to release shit before the issues are sorted out. i think i need to sort out the rest of my build before i get to my stereo.

An aftermarket radio is always better than stock in almost every aspect. There are some newer stock units that sound better because they have been specifically tuned to work for that head unit/amplifier and the speakers i.e. JBL Synthesis for Toyota. I would suggest a unit with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, depending on your choice of phone.Once you swap the deck, the sound is not the same because some speakers from factory can be at anywhere from 8-16 ohms to as low as 2 ohms. Aftermarket head units work on a 4 ohm load by default. Yes they can do an 8 ohm speaker but at less power. The best thing to do is some research on speaker/amp combos that work great for your vehicle and the proper woofer to complete the sound.
