Help me choose 1 of these 3 rear bumpers. Please

So I have narrowed it down to 3 companies, LFD, Coastal Offroad and Victory 4x4. I like the coastal kit because if I find someone to weld it for 500-700 I have a complete dual arm bumper for 2k, Victory and LFD offer a bumper now and swing arms later. Victory and LFD are close to the same price and I have no clue what the big differences are between the 2.

So which of the 3 do you have and do you like it, what would you change about it, what don't you like about it?

o I have a 19 4R, and I really don't have time to try to find the threads on rear bumpers since they are scattered all over this site. I figured this would get more looks here so that is why I am posting it here[. I have a few questions? I backed right into a street light that seems to have 3 feet of concrete formed up so no one can take the light out. It hit right under the pass tail light. Didnt see it in the mirror or the camera. I need a new rear bumper.

1- Are there any aftermarket bumpers with a swing arm under 2300 bucks?
2- Is dual swing arms THAT much better than single swing arm.
3- Is anyone planning a sale or is there going to be a group buy coming up?


Thank you in advance, I really don't have time to deep dive into this, since work is ramping up. I know GD is a great place to get quick answers and reliable answers.

Hmm have you considered using that modular rear bumper (upgrade as you go) From Victory 4x4? I believe you can add swing arms later. Regarding Dual swing arms, I think they help in a parking lot as you dont have to swing out the arm as much to open the rear.
 
Things you'll also need to think about..

- Lead times. Hardly anyone actually keeps stock of rear bumpers. You can just patch up your stock damaged bumper for the time being until your new bumper comes in.
- Weight. You're going to need to do something suspension wise or it will sag like a mofo on stock suspension.
 
I know nothing about the Victory 4x4, the runner is drivable it just has a big dent and the platic popped off on the side, I 'm coll with it looking like that. I have 2 Jerry cans and a HiLift, I dob't need both fuel cans but hey why not right?

I have a Old Man Emu 3 inch lift n the garage with Heavy springs just waiting to go in. I haven't installed it because I don't know what ir will look like with w 3 inch lift with stock tires.
 
I would definitely recommend either a half single swing or a dual swing. A full width single swing really does require a larger area to open up the rear.

Right now I have a 4x4 Labs dual swing rear bumper. I think if I were to do it all again I'd go with the 4x4 Labs in a half single swing and modify it to my own liking a bit. I still plan to modify a few things but can do that down the road. One of the best thins about 4x4 Labs is that you can basically tell them what you want and they do it. It does however require cutting off the rear crossmember for the install as you get the best clearance and departure angle with this bumper.

Personally I'd recommend Brute Force, C4, or Victory if chopping off the rear crossmember is not an option.
 
I was looking at the Coastal Offroad rear kit but I have never welded and it seems everyone in my are is too buys welding pipelines and the bumper would be too small of a job.
 
You could get the LFD rear bumper without swing arms but with spindles to add swing arms later, this way it would definitely be within your budget. I did this with my wife's 4R. You are not too far away from them and could even drive up to pick it up to save some money as it's not too far.

They're a pretty penny for sure. They are however, IMO, the best bumper in terms of build quality, strength, and track record. And without a doubt they provide the BEST clearance and departure angles. My issue with most rear bumpers is that they improve clearance and departure angles by only a small margin since they all mount on the rear crossmember. The only ground clearance you gain is from removing the factory hitch. Honestly some of the bumpers look like they make the clearance and depature angle worse. The 4x4 Labs rear incorporates a new crossmember and hitch receiver into the bumper itself. The clearance gain is huge.

The other thing I like about the bumper is the simplicity. You can get a tire carrier, ladder and/or jerry can attachments. Each attachment is made directly for that use. A lot of the other bumpers use a peg board style for attaching accessories and tire carriers. IMO that's just additional wasted space and steel.

Companies like CBI, C4, Victory, LFD made their names off the 5th gen 4Runner. 4x4 Labs is not a big player in the 4Runner market and their success is based off the the Land Cruiser 80 series. Luke has been designing bumpers for Land Cruisers for nearly 2 decades now and has perfected the design over time. It's pretty much the defacto bumper for the 80 series on Mud. Yes chopping off the rear crossmember is not for everyone but you see the same in a lot of other Land Cruiser bumpers from Trail Tailor or Dissent. The way I look at it, if it's good enough for a Land Cruiser then it's good enough for my 4Runner.

Don't have to sale me on it lol, I saw the bumper in person on a LC-80 and 5th gen. Decided then (a year ago) that I wanted the 4x4labs! Still saving up for one though...

I am cheap, even penny-wise but pound-foolish, but I would not hire somebody to weld a bumper for me. If there is a difference of opinion over the completed welding, who pays, and how much?

I doubt bumper mfr's overpay their welders, and I would not underpay one (unless I could weld). So the only real savings I would expect would be the shipping. Not worth the risk to me.

I would get an aluminum bumper, not a kit.

Oops that doesn't help you, sorry. :(
