Help me decide

Alright, so i'm currently running Tundra 5100's with 3/4" top plate spacers.

when i switched to this i lost the softness of the 5100's... now its not too bad, but i was really impressed with the ride they had without the spacer on the 3rd setting...

now i'm trying to get some of that nice ride back, but not have too much rake. (sucks because i finally got it level)

what do you think would be better?

1. Switch the spacer out for a 1/2" spacer (easier route)
2. Move the shocks to the second setting instead of the 3rd

I understand each setting is a .65" difference... i'm just really undecided because i want to do what will be a better ride and also better for my CVs.

here's a pic as it sits now

When you say 3/4" and 1/2" spacers, are you talking about the thickness of the spacers? Or the lift yielded?

Are you talking top out spacers?

Why did you lower the spring mount and go to a spacer?

Why not go back to raising the spring mount and removing the spacer?

You're talking about the adjustable bilsteins correct? I don't have a "top"spacer.

I'm pretty sure what he means is he has the Tundra adjustable Blisteins (currently set on the 3rd notch) AND a 3/4" top plate spacer from ToyTec. This would result probably close to a 4" lift, right?

Eddy, I'm going to get my fronts adjusted this weekend and put them onto that 3rd notch myself. My only thought is you may want to see how my rig sits after that as my LC coils have definitely settled down a bit where I believe yours are still settling. I'm hoping after the adjustment I'll have about 0.5-1 inch difference between the front and rear height without any top-plate spacers.

I'll let you know when I'm done! :D

Yeah good thinking Marc. I would love to not have to use spacers. and your truck doesn't look bad as it sits now on the 2nd notch. I wish my LC coils would hurry up and settle lol

I had the same thoughts after putting my lift in! I think towing my pop-up camper a couple weekends this last summer helped speed it along. It brought my rear down to the level of my front leveling it out while I traveled with it!

I hope you don't have bad luck with it this summer when you load up to go camping! I was actually going to ask you about this. Since you're already settled in the back, are you expecting to have a nose up 4runner when you have your camping gear back there?

...are you expecting to have a nose up 4runner when you have your camping gear back there?

I don't know yet.. I expect if I buy the appropriate hitch drop that the truck and camper should stay level, but loading other gear up may drop it a little. As is I'll still have a minor rake and loading it probably won't make a huge noticable difference if I do it right. The LC coils are not known for their stiffness so it's very likely the nose might have a slight height difference than the back (whether more or less is still to be determined).

Get rid of the spacers and keep them at either the 3rd or 2nd setting. Also you could look for some 7 wrap lc coils. They are a bit tough to find, but will make the back a bit more level. I love the ride at the 2nd setting.
