Help me diagnose another suspension noise.

I posted a while back about some noise after installing ICON COs. I'm trying not to be anal about it, but it is getting worse. I have discovered it is isolated to the drivers side area and seems to get louder after running through a car wash.

I'm not feeling great today, so I'm not very motivated to get outside and take it apart at the moment, so here is a quick video of the noise. In first part, I stand on my slider and weight the truck to create a slight noise. In the second part, I use a floor jack to let the suspension compression. This is when the noise gets pretty loud.

I'm sure I'll get motivated later to start taking it apart and troubleshooting it, but I figured I would post here to get some initial thoughts on what it might be.

I know it is hard to tell over the internet... but I figure it is worth a look. Again, this started after I installed the ICONs, so I'm pretty sure it is something related to that. My previous setup (OME) was silent.

I expect a few creaks... but this seems like something is not quite right.

I had the same issues, check the sway bar. I thought it was the actual co/shaft but the issue was the sway bar. I to herd it coming from the driver’s side and it got louder and louder. The way i figured it out was by spaying some WD40 on the rubber joints that attach to the frame.

Maybe, but that would not explain it starting with the ICONs. I'm guessing it is the upper or lower mounting points/bearings. The ICONs don't using bushings... Its a lot of metal to metal contact... Some noise is probably just a given with such a design, but I'm hoping not this much.

No swaybar present at the moment ;-)
 
Yikes. Sounds like something is binding or rubbing. I don't have any sounds that even approximate that noise... I'm assuming all the torques have been checked and the appropriate zerks have been greased (not the CO issue) at all. Your CVs do look pretty maxed out though but it might just be how it is being hacked up. Confounding for sure.

You can definitely feel the difference but it drives fine without swaybars if you have the right springs. I wouldn't go without swaybars with stock springs personally. You can test-drive mine at some point if you want to feel what it is like.

I just installed the full stage one Icon set up a few weeks ago. :D Is it still a big difference?
 
That is pretty loud, but I never had my head under there like that on mine :D

I almost totally forgot about it but when I put my COs on I also had some squeaking. I ended up spraying silicone spray all over the cup/coils on top and bottom and after a couple days oit worked it's way in and went away. It's been gone for months now.

The bushings in the icon LCAs also squeak pretty bad being urethane, but again a couple shots of silicone spray and a couple days of flexing it goes away.

I can see how washing it out could bring it back or even cause it in places where there is metal to metal contact or any urethane to metal contact.

Buy a can of silicone and use that liberally and see if it doesn't lessen or go away after a couple days.
 
This is perplexing. I sprayed a little more lube on the shaft and the noise stopped. Then I went and drove around (it is misting rain today). No noise at all.

Last night it was loud. to the point that I could hear it in the truck when jumping on the brakes. Something must just be off with that particular coil over.

I really need to take it off and move it to the other side to be 100% sure, but I just don't have the motivation to mess with it today.

Yea, you are seeing the CVs at full droop. Also, even when down on the ground after being jacked up... the front end stays up higher than normal until the tires have a chance to walk out.
