Wil they work with the 906's, though? I was planning on those.
Im currently running 4runner 5100s with 906
How do you like the ride?
Reverse rake is the front sitting higher than rear...Do you mean just rake?
What do you have upfront?

I have the 4Runner specific 5100s on mine with stock coils. Right now I only have the rears on, but it's been a huge improvement so far. The fronts come today and I'm going to be putting some used 99 tall coils on them and then plan on 906s in the rear.
My reasonings for this set up:
1. I want a small lift. I don't want change the geometry of the suspension/steering/drivetrain very much. I feel like most people lift their truck more than necessary, but either way for my use case 2" is plenty.
2. I use my 4Runner as a truck, to occasionally tow a trailer, and to go on longer camping trips. The 906's will hold more weight with less sagging. I'm tired of putting 250 pounds in the back and seeing it sag.
3. I don't want the ride to be too harsh since it's my DD. That's why I chose the 4Runner 5100's, because I figured the Tundra 5100s would make it ride even more truck like with the 906s.
I'll let you know once I have the fronts installed, although I'm probably going to wait until I have the 906s in hand so I don't drive around with more reverse rake than I already have.
So they'll work...but only with the 906s.
So, should I just go with the Tundra 5100s incase I ever switch to a taller rear coil?
I think that'd be my best bet, eh?
One other thing, I believe the 4Runner specific 5100s are too short for the 890s (Bilstein recommends 0 - 2.3" of lift).
I did find this farther down in the thread where 4Runner4TW is running the same set up I'm going for but with 880s up front. Sounds like he loves it, but maybe he'll chime in.
Bilstein's catalog lists PN 24-248730 front and PN 24-249966 rear for a '96-'02 4WD 4Runner with 0-2.3 inches lift. I am using these well within the specified lift recommendation. I noticed the BE5-D558-T0 at Wheelers website, but decided that I absolutely wanted the finer perch settings for tuning my front lift. I opted for the zero-lift setting giving me a 1.25 inch rake. If I ever want, I might change it to the second setting (~0.8 inch lift). I don't know what PN shocks are recommended for higher lifts.Well, you sold me! I feel the same -- don't need to lift too much and still want to use it like it's meant to.
Would you happen to know the part numbers for the 4runner 5100s?
Thanks a lot
It'll be June at the very least until I do...excited to hear your opinion on it.
Not sure if I'm late or not but the 4Runner specific Bilsteins are designed for 2inches or the 906.
I can find it but someone is running the 4Runner 5100s with 890s but they added a lot of weight to the rear to bring it down.
I would stick with the set up I have if 2inches is all your looking for. Myself I have never needed more but I wheel forest roads mostly. My 2inches lift allows me to do every trail here in Sedona AZ as well.
Just got back from 100mi on forest roads today. I can cruise easy at 30-40mph. I'm not talking gravel roads; the FR here in AZ are pretty rocky and currigated.
Curios about what shock/part # I need to get the shock setup properly for this shock and spring comboI want to run the 4Runner specific 5100 and am looking for 2-2.5” of lift. Instead of running 880 and 906 which doesn’t quite give you 2” up front without spacers and the rougher 906 spring in the rear I was thinking of going 881 and 890.
Now if I understand correctly I won’t get the full 3” out of these springs because the shocks will limit them to about 2.3”? Will doing this cause any negative effects? My hope is the extra length of the spring will help get the full 2.3” of lift with less sag down the road. I also like the idea that the 890 is a little softer the 906 and I won’t have to add trim packers to prevent rake. Especially reverse rake.
Is my logic correct on this? Has anyone done this? Let me know if you guys think this is a good or bad idea?

The fronts are 24-248730, the rears are 24-249966.
Although I’m still trying to confirm if this works. Hoping someone will chime in that has done it. Or at least someone to give their opinions on whether or not they think this setup works and my logic is sound.
My understanding is that if you want to use the 890 rather than the 906 in the rear then you will have to use either the 4th gen 4Runner 5100s or the Tundra 5100s since they are longer. This info is coming from here http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/224714-talked-bilstein-today-new-5100-shock-info.html
I was going through much of the same thought process you are now and this thread gave a lot of helpful info. Hope this helps!
