Help needed, hood won't latch on a 02

You guys always have the answers so thanks again in advance. I replaced my battery today and now the hood won't latch close. The release inside the cab feels very lose and it the inside latch has been fussy to the point where i pull it very carefully. Any idea of how i can fix this?

Had the same issue get a screw driver and push spring back. Oil it and you’ll be all set.

which way would i push the spring? I have no idea what position it should be. Thanks

On mine when it happens I use a screwdriver to just press the right side of the spring down manually, mine sometimes doesn't catch when closing it....

IM thinking it may be a good idea to put some WD40 in the area then?

Well when I bought mine 2 years ago it never latched and it seemed to be overgreased actually, I cleaned it all out and just lubricated it a little and it worked great every time until just recently, so my advice would be to clean it out and start over.....
