Help on locating a wire

I currently have an accessory LED light that I flip on when I leave my car for security, I would like to hook it up so it will automatically come on when I shut my car off so I don't have to keep hitting a switch.

So I need a hot wire when the ignition is off, and will go cold when the car is on. I poked around under the dash with my multimeter but got lost and frustrated.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to tap into?

I honestly don't know of anything that is set up like that, but you could make your own set up with a relay pretty easily

Basically get a relay like this:

You would wire one side of the coil to ground, and the other side to a wire that has 12v DC when the vehicle is running, but 0 when off.

Connect battery positive to the common terminal

Connect a wire to the normally closed contact and route it to your led light with any resistors you need for the led if you do need any
